Taking a break from the theatrics of advertising for a moment so I can explain why I actually want to do this. I think we can all agree the cringe-factor and the fact that the older episodes feel like they were written by a child is part of the joys of those episodes.
However, I feel like some parts don’t quite cross the threshold of being so cringe it’s funny. A lot of episodes I can’t rewatch for that reason, and don’t get me started on trying to show this fanime to a new audience.
Explaining the biggest part of why the script is like that, it’s because I didn’t script my episodes at all until episode 8. I would literally write a mental script in my head and try to remember it on the spot when recording my lines. This led to me misremembering what words to use and a lot of improv, leading to the general clunkiness. I still want to maintain a level of clunkiness and poor quality to the voice acting, making it sound amateur, low quality, and low confidence, to make up for the fact that the script sounds more polished now.
Additionally, I just have a lot of scenes and a lot of dialogue that I cut for any variety of reasons (felt like it spoiled the major plot twist, made the episode “too long”, etc). I wanna add those back in since I feel like I have far better script writing abilities now as an adult (I turned 18 recently!). Episode 1 was originally written when I was 13, I was a little kid essentially and of course I didn’t know what I was doing. I just wanna bring my new skills to the table. Please don’t be afraid of the show losing what makes it special.
I’ll try my darndest to conserve what worked about the older script and art. Also, all the older episode versions will still be public.
