I'm back after a few months with a new cover! This one is both for this year's Soundole Chill Out competition, as well as this month's Pixel Mixers contest, whose theme is games from 2000-2009. I figured Paper Mario TTYD was a good game to check out for music, since the remake just came out so it's on peoples' minds.

This is easily my most unique arrangement to date, as it's the second one I've done with no drums, and it's of a piece probably no one ever thinks about lol. It doesn't even really have a main melody per se; it's just a very ambient soundscape. It took some work to figure out how I wanted to arrange it, since it sounds like the original is in free time, but I kind of interpreted it as being in 4/4 but every fourth bar is 3/4. Regardless of the meter changes, it's more meant to be vibed along with then bopping your head or counting to.

I know a lot of people might not listen to this all the way to the end (despite only being 3.5 minutes long which is shorter than most of my covers lol) but I thank you if you stick to the end! With the original only being 40 seconds or so before repeating (and even that contains a repeat with a very minor change), it was an interesting challenge to figure out how to build and build the song and then drop it off at the end, especially considering it's not the usual type of piece I end up arranging. I focused a lot on production with reverbs and other effects as well for this one, so I could nail the vibe I was going for.

I also didn't bother recording video for this for 2 reasons: 1, I only started it 5 days ago and had to speedrun making it basically, and 2: I don't think it would make for very interesting performance since it's very soundscape-y and ambient and with tons of layers, none of which are really a 'main' part.

Look forward to my next cover hopefully in June, since I have a partly finished one that fits the next Pixel Mixers theme! Until then, have a gay one y'all
