When painting portraits I love to use the Loomis Method. I think this system is genius. It gives you a pretty good framework for creating a likeness and capturing the sitter.
This Iggy Pop looking dude, is the father of my first video editor. Shout out to Samson!
He agreed to pose for me one day and I sat on the reference for years, before I ever painted him. He’s got that menacing stare here, but he was a joy to hang out with. I’m thinking of dipping back into those reference files and painting a larger version of this piece.
