First introduced in the late 80s, software music trackers like the C64 Soundmonitor and the Amiga SoundTracker were very popular amongst pro and hobbyist electronic musicians. While seeing text-based data flying on a vertical timeline may look mystifying to the uninitiated, the tracker concept is a lot of fun once you learn the basics.
