The MPGD Challenge stands for Max Pokédex Gym Delay Challenge. The rules are simple: Max out your Pokédex before beating the next required gym. This includes Pokémon 'seen' and Pokémon 'caught'. To get an idea of the difficulty of the challenge, imagine fighting wild Caterpies, Metapods, and Pidgeys in Viridian Forest until you level up Squirtle to evolve into Blastoise before fighting Brock.
Glitches, Trading, or any means to obtain Pokémon not directly using the Gameboy Cartridge such as Pokémon Stadium are not allowed. For the complete description of rules, click the link below:

MPGD Challenge for Pokémon Yellow - Badge 5 (Erika):
The challenge is starting to dwindle down now since each new badge only yields a few new Pokémon. After Lt. Surge, Office Jenny finally gave us Squirtle which could evolve into Wartortle and Blastoise. A little bit of grinding and Blastoise was ours in 40 minutes!
In total, 125 Pokémon are possible to catch and 141 Pokémon are possible to see before obtaining the 5th Badge!
The following Pokémon were obtained before the 3rd Badge:
