Did you help create Britain’s first digital time capsule? In 1985 and 1986, thousands of schoolchildren across the UK documented their communities for the BBC Domesday Project. Forty years later, the Centre for Computing History is inviting contributors to reconnect with the articles, photographs, surveys and local histories they helped create.
We preserve two of the UK’s fully working BBC Domesday systems and are bringing these incredible stories back to life.
We’re also collecting memories from everyone who took part, creating a new exhibition, and planning a special 40th anniversary celebration on 19 September 2026.
