I am so excited to finally share this month’s layout on my classic Happy Planner! For February, I wanted my spread to be a tribute to celebrate a century of Black History, so I’ve created a "100 Years of Innovation" spread, highlighting one incredible Black inventor for every decade from 1926 to 2026. 🖤

It is so easy to forget that the things we use every day (from our home security to the tech in our phones) started with a Black creator’s "lightbulb moment."

Here is the 100-year lineup featured in this plan with me:
•1926–1935: Marjorie Stewart Joyner (Permanent Wave Machine)
•1936–1945: Frederick McKinley Jones (Mobile Refrigeration)
•1946–1955: Dr. Charles Drew (The Blood Bank)
•1956–1965: Otis Boykin (Electrical Resistors for computers/pacemakers)
•1966–1975: Marie Van Brittan Brown (Home Security System)
•1976–1985: Valerie Thomas (Illusion Transmitter/3D Tech)
•1986–1995: Dr. Patricia Bath (Laserphaco Probe for cataract surgery)
•1996–2005: Mark Dean (Gigahertz Chip - IBM)
•2006–2015: Lonnie Johnson (Super Soaker & Green Energy)
•2016–2026: Brandon Martin (The Heads-Up™ Trainer - Sports Safety)

I’m particularly inspired by Brandon Martin in our current decade. It proves that innovation and Black History is still happening all around us!
