Markus has already flown 12 times in the #ZEROG plane

âïžExperiments with complex plasmas can be done on ground by levitating the charged particles by electric fields but they are strongly affected by gravity and it is not possible to produce large 3D systems.

âïžCertain aspects of complex plasmas can therefore only be investigated under #microgravity.
Those experiments in sounding #rockets, #parabolic flights, on #MIR and #ISS (PKE-Nefedov, PK-3 Plus, PK-4) have benn performed for 20 years

âïžIn the present parabolic flight campaign â the 12th campaign with PK-4 since 2003 - Markus want to study lane formation in interpenetrating particle clouds and demixing of binary systems. The dynamical process of the spatial separation of microparticles of different sizes

đŹThe team will use a faster camera with a higher resolution than onboard the ISS, allowing more detailed and precise investigations... and this experiment was already performed in a campaign in 2016 !
