Philippine Coast Guard deploys Air Assets after collision incident at sea JUNE 29, 2020

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) deploys BN Islander with tail number PCG-684 and Airbus H145 light twin-engine helicopter with tail number CGH-1452 to conduct an aerial search at the vicinity waters 14.57 nautical miles west-southwest off Tayamaan, Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro this morning, 29 June 2020.
Yesterday, 28 June 2020, the PCG received a distress call from the captain of Hongkong-registered bulk carrier vessel, MV Vienna Wood about a collision incident with local fishing vessel, FV Liberty 5 at the said vicinity waters.
MV Vienna Wood departed from Subic, Zambales going to Australia, while FV Liberty 5 departed from Cagayan de Tawi-Tawi going to Navotas Fish Port, Metro Manila when the maritime incident occurred.
After verifying the incident and acquiring further information from MV Vienna Wood, the PCG immediately activated SAR operations to rescue 12 missing fishermen, including its captain, as well as two passengers of the distressed fishing vessel.
Later this morning, another multi-role response vessel of the PCG will arrive at the said vicinity waters to augment the ongoing SAR operations.
