Walk with me through the heart of Perugia, Italy, on the final evening of the Coppa della Perugina 2026 โ a vintage car rally that fills the historic center with over 100 classic automobiles, from pre-war Bugattis and Fiats to American Mustangs and Cadillacs. We start in Piazza IV Novembre beside the 13th-century Fontana Maggiore, head down through Piazza Matteotti and the panoramic Terrazza del Mercato Coperto, then walk the full length of Corso Vannucci to the Belvedere Giardini Carducci for sweeping views over the Umbrian countryside. On the way back, we pass under finish-line arches, watch crews receive their finisher plaques on the green carpet, and weave through crowds gathered to see the cars on display. The Coppa della Perugina was founded in 1924 by Giovanni Buitoni, owner of the Perugina chocolate company, and today it's a four-day rievocazione storica โ a historical re-enactment โ that brings Perugia's medieval streets alive with the sounds and shapes of a century of motoring history.

Perugia is the capital of Umbria, perched on a hilltop above the Tiber Valley in central Italy. Founded by the Etruscans in the 3rd century BC, the historic center radiates from Piazza IV Novembre, where five medieval "royal streets" once converged. The Fontana Maggiore at its center was carved by Nicola and Giovanni Pisano between 1275 and 1278 and is considered one of the finest examples of medieval Italian sculpture. Today Perugia is also famous as the home of Perugina chocolate, the Eurochocolate festival, and Umbria Jazz โ and once a year, the Coppa della Perugina brings the streets alive with the rumble of vintage engines.
