What happens when a dragster runs out of drag strip and ends up on a road course?

Shawn Cowie found out the hard way during first-round eliminations at the NHRA Brainerd Nationals.

The story wasn't Cowie shaking the tires and losing to John Haley. The real action came afterward when Cowie's dragster wasn't slowing down as expected and continued through the shutdown area at a high rate of speed.

When the drag strip real estate ran out, Cowie took an unexpected trip onto Brainerd International Raceway's road-course property. Grass went flying, the dragster bounced through the runoff area and, for a moment, climbed onto two wheels before Cowie kept it upright.

You don't see a dragster take the road course every day.
