EMD SW1200 TSU108 Meckster 28™ 2024-02-16 | Hey there guys!While I visited my girlfriend in Tulsa for the holiday, I got the car for the afternoon and chased TSU's Ex-Soo Line SW1200 from their Lefeber Yard down through Jenks, Oklahoma. Watch those boxcars dance from side to side behind this whistle-happy engine. Love the wooden trestle at the end, too. Being from NW Washington state, we don't have many branch lines running private or state locos in my area, so this is a treat. Closest thing I've got back home is the run from Sumas to Lynden, WA, which has washed out at multiple points with no current customers to serve. Maybe some time in the future I'll get an idea of SKOL's operations and catch them. Haven't seen 'em outside of Owasso, yet.

Gotta love the old crossing bell and BN hoppers. I hardly ever make it out this way due to the uncertainty of catching something good, so I was happy with this for sure. I love how the rain water starts to pour out at the 0:49 sec mark, how it stops perfectly in frame at 1:50, and the visible exhaust at 2:22. Not exactly a Lynden gravity drop, but unique in its own way.
[4K] BNSF OCS Officer Car Special Aug 2023 Blaine, WA / Clarks Point, Bellingham Meckster 28™ 2023-08-06 | After heading west across Canada, I caught word of it passing through Kamloops. Next morning my Dad and I figured we'd try our luck up in Blaine. At 9am there it was waiting for us, being inspected at the Peace Arch border crossing. We hung out along the coast just south of downtown for our first location, then drove straight to Clarks Point, near Fairhaven, WA afterwards. Jogged the quarter mile to the lookout and it rolls by not 5 minutes after we get there. Luckiest railfanning we've had in years.
Last Ever Alaska/Horizon Q400 service to Bellingham Jan 8th 2023 N453QX Meckster 28™ 2023-01-14 | Hey there guys,While certainly not my best videography work, this may be the saddest video I've had to make. Through the many changes here over the years, Horizon's Q's have been the one constant. Horizon began operating Q100s in 1985 and has served Bellingham since 1987. Q series have been here since our first few years of jet service with PSA MD80s, and later, US Air 737-300s and Alaska MD80s. Later into the 21st century, we had Allegiant MD80s, Frontier and Skybus a319s, and Alaska 737-400s. Through all that, the Q remained here. For the serious legacy it has at BLI, I was expecting more of a send-off. While I understand the tower has to keep a level of professionalism, the final radio sign-off of a revenue Q flight felt like any other day at work. I speculate the pilot paused during his readback because this special moment ended just a little too soon.
Last Ever 747 Kicks Up Snow at Paine Field, Bound for Paint in Portland / PAE-PDX Boeing Test Flight Meckster 28™ 2022-12-27 | Hey there guys!Right place right time, for me. It's been hard to catch departures of this bird since it rolled out. Weather and sporadic scheduling has made it difficult. Although I missed the first flight of the last 747, so did many, and it was very poor weather that day. Here, though, is something equally as special. This was the last time a 747 will ever takeoff in its factory green coating. It headed out west along the Washington peninsula before flying around Moses Lake. After a 4 or 5 hour flight, it landed at PDX where (as of now) we are waiting to see what paint they will give it. Lets hope its not just a simple nose sticker saying "Last 747" while being regular Atlas air colors.
[4K] Inaugural Alaska E175 at Bellingham Night Footage N649QX BLI 11/4/22 Meckster 28™ 2022-11-10 | Hey there guys,As Alaska prepares for the retirement of their Q400's, they've started sending us E jets. The Q400 has been the undeniable backbone of BLI for decades, and I dread the last day of regular service. Because of this fleet streamlining, we will likely be seeing a reduction in daily BLI-SEA flights. While we used to get 8 to 10 daily Q arrivals and departures from before sunrise to after sunset, jet service will be closer to 6-8 daily operations. On top of this, Southwest (our 2nd of 3 major airlines here) announced seasonal service to Denver starting in April. These will only occur on Saturdays. This happens at the reduction of 1 daily flight to Oakland, which makes 1 daily to LAS and OAK and 1 Saturday flight to DEN. A reopening Canadian border was not the rush of traffic BLI expected, seen by these streamlining flights.

Southwest FIRST FLIGHT Bellingham, WA KBLI / First Arrival-First Departure-Second Arrival Meckster 28™ 2021-11-08 | November 7th was a day I've been looking forward to all year. With the US Canada border opening, Southwest serviced KBLI for the first time today. The terminal already has a proper check in booth with Southwest signs and literature. It appears that we will be getting twice daily flights to OAK and daily service to LAS. I shot in 4K on my a6300 and was teetering on a ladder for all the clips. I took a board and wedged it atop the paint tray but below a step and balanced my tripod on it. Quite an act.

With each GE9X generating 105,000lbs of thrust (individually powerful enough to power three 737 classics) takeoff was seemingly quieter than a 757. Major milestone for Boeing, and in a little way, for myself. This was my first time seeing an inaugural of a brand new aircraft. Taxi footage was shot the day prior to departure when takeoff was aborted due to +20kt gusts.Thousands of people watched in anticipation from the Future of Flight deck and parking lot. As you could imagine, visibility over the next guy's shoulder was less than ideal. She happened to bound off the runway much sooner than expected, but I was still satisfied with the clips I gathered despite my "consumer level" locationEnjoy!

But anyway:On March 2nd, (the 50th anniversary of the Concorde's first flight) I dropped by Paine field to catch the first glimpse of a freshly painted 747. This aircraft isn't a month old and it was ferried from KPDX, where it was painted, to KPAE. Boeing ferries and paints most of its new aircraft at Portland, but a 748 is unarguably the rarest occurrence. Next to no-one are purchasing them, unfortunately. It's a bit of a shaky clip due to the gusty crosswind both my camera and QF were dealigh with. Last week I went up to the North spotting gravel pile and a sign was posted there saying it was private property. I can assume it is being developed and will no longer be a viable spotting location, but since it was saturday, no one was there to stop me. I filmed with an a6300 with the kit 55-210mm lens. in camera, digitally zoomed in 2x and filmed in the 30fps mode which crops the frame even more. In the beginning, the telephoto end was something like 700mm at 1080p. It's tough to film stable at a 700mm equivalent. Hope you enjoyed!

It was in the shop for a while, which meant so was my editing software. Just a week ago I purchased a Sony a6300 and for spring break I went to Seattle. I did not use the time lapse app on the camera because I had just purchased the cam. For the past 3 years, I have used an a5000 and I didn't realize how refreshing a new camera would be. The a6300's 4K, and even 1080 30p, sure beats the awful 1080 interlaced, extra compressed, garbage footage my a5000 does. Hope you enjoyed and I'll be bringing more 4K soon!
Up Close RCAF / P3 Orion, Convair 580 CT-155 YXX Event Girls Fly Too Meckster 28™ 2018-03-14 | Hey there guys! Today I have just a small look into the Girls Fly Too event at Abbotsford Airshow. I shot 99% of it with a FIVE DOLLAR LENS I obtained just a month ago. It's a 400mm f6.3 vivitar lens (used with my a5000 with a 1.5x sensor crop equaling 600mm) deigned for old Minolta MD mount cameras. I bought an adapter for it and (although it's full manual without any stabilization) I love it. If you've any questions, feel free to ask in the comments and I should have an answer. PITCH DARK Qantas 747 Night Planespotting / VH-OEJ YVR Departure QF76 Meckster 28™ 2018-01-22 | Hey there guys! Today I've got some more footage from my new years day spotting trip to Vancouver. The time lapse in the beginning was 12 mins of footage shot at 1/4 second 300mm f6.3 sped up to 64x speed. The rest of it was 1/30th sec on my Sony a5000 between 55-210mm. I have plenty more footage from dusk and some fantastic low light clips coming soon, so look forward to that. Today I fulfilled an item on my bucket list. In Kingman AZ, there is a boneyard that houses some iconic commercial aircraft. This was the first time I had ever seen a DC-8 and probably the last time I will see this many rare and iconic planes in one spot. You see that the video is in 4K, but it is only the pictures that are 4K. The actual footage is 108060i. But since I focused on taking pictures over footage, I had to glorify the 20-million-pixel images the best I could. Hope you enjoyed and I'll be bringing more soon!

Today I'll be bringing you another micro plane build. Coming up with new ideas for plane designs has been getting harder and harder since I have so many now. Honestly, it has become a test of finding designs I haven't used yet. I like the way this aircraft turned out though, and I hope you have enough pieces to build it. Another way you can modify this plane is by adding static wicks on the tips of the wings. Just take 4 grey Lego hands and clamp the hands to the trailing edge of the wingtip.
