Always have a fan and/or respirator to avoid breathing in the smoke produced when woodburning. Many crafters claim woodburning smoke is not harmful, but I think avoiding the smoke as much as possible is a good idea.5. Always woodburn outside or in a well-ventilated area. Timber Terrain #02 (Base Blocks #1 of 3) Downtime Dad 2017-11-09 | Here's a modular terrain system with sturdy, wooden pieces versatile enough to create a large variety of wooden structures, and the pieces break down well saving you tons of space!In this video, I show how I measure, mark, cut and sand Timber Terrain Base Blocks.I also show the tools I use for this step.Some circular saw safety tips for this activity:1. Whenever using any power tool, always wear appropriate safety equipment including safety glasses, dust mask/respirator, hearing protection and appropriate clothing including gloves.2. Always unplug the circular saw before adjusting or changing the blade.3. Set the depth of cut so that the blade is no more than 1/4 inch below the bottom edge of the board to be cut.4. Check to be sure the blade guard springs back to cover the blade after it is retracted. Do not use anything to prop the blade guard in an open position as this leaves the blade exposed.5. Replace your circular saw blade when needed, and do not use a dull blade.6. Be sure the board is secure before you start cutting.7. Be sure the electrical cord is clear of the blade and plugged into a GFCI outlet. 8. Be sure the cord can't catch on anything while you're moving the saw through the wood.9. Keep both hands on the circular saw handles while the blade is spinning.10. It's always a good idea for minors--even those experienced in woodworking, but especially those who aren't--to have adult supervision when operating a circular saw.Please like, share and subscribe! Trash to Treasure #8 Downtime Dad 2017-07-13 | Here's how to make an icy prison from a plastic container you can get at the local bakery.If you can't find such a container, look for a similar shape in other plastic food containers. And you can always make this with cardboard or foam as the base and small, clear, plastic cups textured with hot glue. Budget Gaming Table! Gaming on the Cheap #5 Downtime Dad 2017-07-06 | It's time to dust off the old ping pong table and convert it into a gaming table!You can also use this basic concept on any old table to turn it into a comfortable yet affordable place to enjoy your favorite games with family and friends.This was about making a gaming table with what I had on hand and what I think most people could acquire for free or cheap (on a budget) quickly and without any tools or skills needed. So this is little time, skills or resources needed. The main thing you need is a table of some sort (preferably a ping pong table). If you don't have the boards or fabric, they are pretty cheap. This setup literally cost me nothing because I already had the ping pong table, boards and fabric. If you have a table you can use for gaming, then you can probably set this up with less than $50 total since you'd just need boards and some fabric. This table has certain benefits most budget gaming tables don't including versatility. And another nice thing about this setup is you can add to it as you get money for your gaming hobby.
