On Pawn Stars, you never know what’s going to walk through that door… and sometimes even the SELLERS have no clue they’re holding a small fortune.
In this video, we break down the wildest times people brought in “random stuff” and found out they were actually sitting on incredible history, serious cash, or both.
🔫 Civil War Firepower & a GATLING GUN
A gun collector invites Rick to Utah to look at an 1863 Sharps carbine and casually mentions he “might” also have a Gatling gun. The Sharps turns out to be the assault rifle of its day… but the real shock is the pristine 1883 Colt Gatling gun sitting in the back. The seller wants $335,000 and even offers to let them SHOOT it. Watching Rick and the crew crank out 750 rounds a minute from a working Gatling gun is insane – and proves this isn’t just a gun, it’s a museum piece.
🚕 1915 Model T Taxi Resto-Mod
Back at the shop, a guy pulls up in a 1915 Model T taxi that’s basically a 2010 hot rod in antique clothing. He’s sunk time, parts and love into a body-off restoration, keeping the original frame but making it street legal. He wants almost $30,000 and clearly has no idea how hard it is to move a custom one-off like this. With help from car expert Danny, Corey still buys it for $21,000 – a huge chunk of cash the seller never thought he’d actually see.
📜 Nikola Tesla’s Savage Poem
Then a man strolls in with a framed handwritten poem by none other than Nikola Tesla – written after Edison allegedly stiffed him out of $50,000. The seller thinks it’s cool… but doesn’t realize how rare ANY Tesla autograph is. Autograph expert Steve confirms the ink, paper and signature are legit, calling Tesla “off the charts” brilliant. The value? Around $2,500. Rick happily pays $1,600 and basically admits he hopes it “gets lost” so he never has to sell it.
📖 1589 War Manual Linked to Queen Elizabeth I & Kit Marlowe
A book lover walks in with a massive 1500s military manual, “Instructions for the Wars,” printed in 1589 under Queen Elizabeth I. He wants $14,000 and thinks it’s just a rare old book. Rare-book expert Rebecca absolutely freaks out – it’s the FIRST English book on fortifications, with folding plates, AND Christopher Marlowe quoted it in his play Tamburlaine. She values it at around $12,000. After tense haggling, Rick hands the seller $8,600 for a true museum-level piece he originally had no idea how big it was.
