Every Playground is Big When You’re Small: Designing educational games for playgrounds in collaboration with play360
What is the role of playground play in education? How can students in developing countries benefit from play in their curriculums? Over the course of one semester a group of game design students along with their instructor, Eric Zimmerman, tried to answer these questions in collaboration with play360. Play360 is an international organization that provides a locally-led solution for global leaders seeking to create play-based learning opportunities for children in their communities. They’ve built over 100 playgrounds in 12 countries. Join us as we discuss the challenges of designing accessible and educational playground games for children that help justify play for educators around the world, with the primary goal of teaching students skills ranging from algebra to sociability through play.
