Electric RV Stabilizers vs Scissor Jacks: The Real Winner RV Gear & Far 2025-08-31 | I assumed electric stabilizers would outperform the standard scissor jacks, but after testing our rig, that wasn’t the case. Scissor jacks were simpler, more reliable, and actually outperformed the electric versions in stability. RV Power 101: How Long Will Your Battery Really Last? RV Gear & Far 2025-08-31 | A big misconception I had when I first started RVing was how long a coach battery could run 12v items. Your RV furnace blower and control board run on 12v, and even a propane fridge needs 12v power for its control panel—so you’d think you could make it through one night while boondocking, right? Unfortunately, with flooded lead acid batteries, you really can’t. Since they shouldn’t be discharged below 50%, you might only get 8–10 hours of usable power—and that’s before factoring in things like your water pump, stabilizers, or even lights. Lithium batteries are a huge improvement, but it’s still worth tracking your actual usage so you know what to expect.
