A P0171 code means the engine computer sees too much air or not enough fuel on Bank 1. Common symptoms include check engine light, rough idle, hesitation, weak acceleration, poor fuel economy, misfires, engine shaking, and sometimes long cranking.
Before replacing the oxygen sensor, check for vacuum leaks, cracked intake hoses, dirty or bad MAF sensor, low fuel pressure, clogged injectors, bad PCV hose, intake manifold leaks, or exhaust leaks before the O2 sensor.
