PracticalTAS took the sheik HRC WR after finding a new strategy, improving my 11 years old record by 7%. It looked great and I wanted to give it a try to see if I could get something better. Turns out that all my attempts failed and I couldn't beat his score by more than a foot. It's a different strat than his, but somehow also ends up at 268% but slightly further on the stadium. I was also able to get close arial hit at 250% which sends less far as well.
It was very frustrating to be unable to gain a single % over previous WR honestly. There HAS to be another strat somewhere that improves this score by 2-3%, but I tried enough, I'm done trying to figure it out. I can only imagine this score won't be WR for very long though, and I won't fight for it either.

I have this video in mind for at least a year now. Getting tired of seeing the word "Glitch" mentioned left and right in the gaming community, as people don't know what a glitch is. When asking them this very question of "what is a glitch?" I got divergent definitions too! It's time for everyone to take a class on what EXACTLY is a glitch! Yes, the explanations are a bit tedious, but no, what you are calling "glitch" is most likely not a glitch, stop calling it a glitch.

An improvement of 11% over my previous run 8 years ago. I am more satisfied, but there is probably a better strat.

This run is unlikely to be possible with standard RNG even with heavy manipulation.
Thanks to mugg1991 for the incredible strat. This is most likely a WR tie as he did the same strat. The difference is that this sandbag actually lands.
Since almost the beginning of HRC this is pretty much all we ever wanted, a stadium with no limits. Brawl has it, Sm4sh has it and Ultimate too. Now it's our turn baby.
Now the only logical move is to redo Peach and Ganondorf. This is exciting!

I missed you guys. I'm sorry I uploaded other things that were not melee-related, I really should have uploaded them on my other channel Wak017.
This is my first TAS in 8 years (can't believe it). I lost 6 TAS WRs in the meantime, claiming back this one, now I have 5 more to claim back: Dr. Mario, Bowser, Fox, Link and Pikachu.
This improves on bluekandy's TAS of 7949.7ft/2423.1m.
All that being said, first thing I wanna mention is how unhappy I am with the ending. I spent about 15 hours to improve on the last bat drop without success.
At first I had in mind to do a back air (then sandbag hits the bat) then slipoff the ledge into double bat drop rest. Didn't work. Then I tried a back air phantom hit double jump into double bat drop rest, but apparently you can't grab an item after you've done a arial in this game?? At least I wasn't able to do it. Then I tried a phantom hit on the bat falling down into backair into strong hit bat drop into rest, but the bat lands before the phantom occurs so it's worse. Then I tried (very, very hard) to just short hop back air phantom hit, land, jump again and double bat drop rest, but I think I'm missing like 1 frame or 2 and I can't grab the bat again.
Maybe someone will pop out with a fantastic idea on how to gain even more % on the last bat drop, but after so many wasted hours I'm done with puff for now.
11th out of 200 000 people. I could have done better but the contest finishes tonight.
Only ~27 people out of 202 000 got under 30s on this level.
my hands are in pain recently so I couldn't play this level as much as the two others. I only played this level for around 3 hours in total and I'm glad I could grab a sub 19.
Second pipe entry was VERY good with a 16.583, but I lost about 4-5 frames on the final part which cost me the 18.89x run. I was only aiming for sub 19s but it's kind of sad that I ended up losing so much time on the final part.
This is 25th rank out of 250 000 people at the moment of publication.
Now I'm gonna have to lay off gaming for a bit so that I don't end up with permanent hand problems. =(
EDIT: just realised there's no audio. Is it possible to edit video with personal audio once uploaded? I'll check this out later today when I have time.
My final rank at this contest was 10th worldwide, behind a good couple of the most solid (and sometimes popular) players like Syun, KingBoo, Yuu (winner of the first ninji speedrun event), Panga, LilKirbs and Sayko.
So far for this contest, for the first 2-3 days the strats are usually not very hard and a lot of people can hope to grab a top 5 spot more or less easily. This is the reason why you see so many other videos claiming the WR spot with a slower time than this run. The last 2-3 days of the event is where the more difficult strats come out and it's hard to keep up on your best rank. I'd say that a FINAL rank of 10th worldwide that I got is more impressive than a temporary rank of top 1, but that's my opinion.

I was watching the WRs of some levels in Mario Maker 2 Story mode and felt like I could improve on some of them, even if it implied that I had to break a WR tie between 20 people to get my own personnal WR on it. And since official time is rounded up to a second, I doubt this time is beatable.
I am also on a project regarding that game. I don't know when I'll be ready to reveal it though. I hope I'll upload some more of these videos in the near future, I miss messing around with video editing.

I had this idea a couple months ago. I started working on it and stopped since like September. The montage was on ice since then.
However, I thought I didn't have enough content to make the video. Plus, I had a lot more things in mind for this project. But I still compiled the footage we had and it comes that we finally had enough footage, which is great.
Yes, I wanted something different than usual, not just a technical TAS video or a combo video. I wanted an intro and FX added to the whole thing. Actually, the original idea included much more special effects than that.

I'm sorry I didn't upload anything new recently. Mugg's awesome falco ditto TAS made me crave for TASing again. But you may or may not guessed it, I don't have as much time for TASing as before.
But I have something in mind right now. A new project that will take probably more than a month. This is what I'll be working on, on and off for the next months. I'm sorry for the sorta inactive channel, I really wish I could spend more time on making videos...
But for now, the compilation of my world records in TAS HomeRun Contest. They are all World records. For the info, Peach, Ice Climbers and Ganondorf never actually landed on solid ground, therefore there is no score shown.

This is my second attempt at getting this record. The first one I couldn't get under 3.68, while the previous WR was 3.67.
I tried a lot of different alternatives between the flipper hit and the last Bair, but only this worked out at all. All the others, I couldn't get the 3 targets with the Bair.
I am currently one busy man with school, work and rock climbing. Plus, I have less and less ideas of TASes. I would like to get into another gamecube game for TASing completion, but they're all like hours long.
This ISO file is inspiring though. It's PAL, but it has very few changes overall if not considering HRC. I hope I'll have some time for my subscribers and get bored more often, so I can entertain people with SSBM TASing.
I have 16 frames to spare at the end, I can probably have more, but I have no idea how to spend them.
Also, at first I had 3997ft... but it couldn't stay like this, I managed to get JUST enough feet from the last bat drop so it gets over the 4k mark, luckily!
I only optimized Mewtwo because I have the tools to do it now. I don't know what to say beside that...
I have Ness to optimize as well, then I get the fox TAS WR, then Young Link TAS WR, then I have 25/25 HRC TAS WR.
I optimized the strategy by SW. Another phantom hit at the end seems impossible..
I got myself a very good video editing program: Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5, but I have yet to get familiar with it. It rejects half of the clips I want to use for some reason, so I will probably need more editing tools to come along with the almighty premiere pro, such as virtualdub. However, the quality is not so bad, just be aware that it's gonna get better.
The game is god damn stable. The ghost always appear at the same place at the same moment (as long as you are not looking around), the loading times are always the same... nothing should make a file desynch. But there is one thing that makes the file desynch: random "reset".
Apparently, when I am TASing, the game suddently erases some past 255 frames, switching them so they are blank frames. According to my file editor, it's just like the game resets, but it doesn't "really" reset, though.
Really, without those random overwrites of past frames, I could have released this video much earlier. Anyway, I got used to it, I save every once in a while, use read-only mode like a boss, and I learned to optimize stuff much quicker.

This is my intro of Luigi's Mansion for Gamecube. It's nothing too special, just me getting used to the controls, trying the new functional read-only mode and experiencing again with my movie editor.
This game seems very stable, it seems to have a very definite ghost pattern. I'm saying that, because it desynched before the ghost training and I had the whole training movie file inputs, but it wouldn't get there from the beginning because of a desynch. I redid only the part where it desynched, I copy pasted my training mode inputs and everything went just fine... no ghost appeared somewhere else the second time compared to the first time.

This was weird as hell. If I do a phantom bat hit AND a Dair phantom hit on the sandbag, I couldn't catch the bat again... so I had to leave most of the Dair phantoms behind for phantom bat hits.
It's an okay score. Jigglypuff has so much potential... Too bad I can't find a strat. 7000 ft should be easily feasible.
I knew the score was beatable, and because bowser is so bad, I felt like I had to do the improvement myself, otherwise it would have stayed like that. So here it is, an improvement of 2% over my last score, and the ending is now very smooth.
Also, with this record, the Total High Score of all the TAS WRs is now of 51,009m / 167,309ft! Just to compare with the real time WR total high score of approx. 40,350m / 132,348ft.
The only WRs I don't own right now are Falco, Fox and Young Link. But I have yet to improve Kirby and Jigglypuff, these characters are annoying me a lot.
Luigi is really the one I hate the most for TASing as we speak right now. However, I'm almost satisfied with the score.

I love my video editor. This strategy needs all the given frames to be achieved, this means one frame less and it wasn't possible in time.
From the naked eye it doesn't look much different to have only +1%, but hell, it was a lot of effort.
The optimization is hard to explain. Every time I do HRC, sometimes the sandbag gets upside down, and I want to prevent that. How do I do it? By losing some % (unspacing the strategy), I am able to not get the sandbag upside down, which would make me lose even more %.
Thanks to my movie editor, I was able to copy paste my work after some pause+Z reset from in game, making the sandbag behave differently every time. After 19 times pause+Z, on this situation, the sandbag would never get upside down, making me able to do a perfect run, without the compromise of an upside down sandbag.
What I just did there is a strategy I also used for Marth to have a perfect run, because Marth NEEDS a perfect run to be optimised, just like GW here.
Expect me to upload a Mewtwo and a Ness for the same reason, they weren't optimized and I want them to be optimized, so I'll restart them and do a perfect run thanks to my movie editor.
I am now able to edit the movie files, and I didn't notice my other video had 1 unused frame at the beginning of the strat. This frame permitted me to gain 1 frame of spacing for +1%!
This should be optimized. Now to find another strat.
I'm 18,1ft or 5,5m from the limit, translated to 99,84% of maximum distance achieved. This is the closest I can get =|
This is the third Over Limit character, but the first only reachable under TASing conditions.
Also, the THS of all the characters has also reached 50,000m with this new high score!

I changed the last BD Nair into a BD weak Uair, it ended up with +2%. Now this strat is more than 2 frames away from another +1%, which is very satisfying... But I wonder how I didn't see that ending before. I was probably too much on a hurry to never play him again, so I overlooked some obvious possibilities.
This strat is 1 frame away from 8000ft.
I worked really too hard for a single %.
If you guessed that I am currently very busy IRL, you guessed right. If you also guessed that I sometimes have a lot of problems with a character, so much that I just procrastinates on it for months, you also guessed right.
Mugg wanted to see a better Kirby for ages now, so here it is.
I knew this strat was possible, but I couldn't do it, because r7323 is doesn't have precise input.
I tried and tried, but never achieved it. So I had to restart the whole strategy on the newest revision: r7719. But good thing, with precise input, phantom hits are now made easy, and I managed to do in 3 hours what I had done in a week before, and improve it by 1000 feet!
HRC TASing Falco has been a pain in the ass for everyone else who tried it. And doing it myself wasn't any different.
But the only thing that refrained me from having a score with Falco was the opening. I couldn't find a way to put the sandbag to the edge.
This is very unmaxed, but the character is really retarded and stuff, maybe I'll improve it some day.
