Most high, all powerful, all good Lord! All praise is Yours, all glory, all honor, and all blessing.
To You, alone, Most High, do they belong. No mortal lips are worthy to pronounce Your name.
Be praised, my Lord, through all Your creatures, especially through my lord Brother Sun, who brings the day; and You give light through him. And he is beautiful and radiant in all his splendor! Of You, Most High, he bears the likeness.
Be praised, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars; in the heavens You have made them bright, precious and beautiful.
Be praised, my Lord, through Brothers Wind and Air, and clouds and storms, and all the weather, through which You give Your creatures sustenance.
Be praised, my Lord, through Sister Water; she is very useful, and humble, and precious, and pure.
Be praised, my Lord, through Brother Fire, through whom You brighten the night. He is beautiful and cheerful, and powerful and strong.
Be praised, my Lord, through our sister Mother Earth, who feeds us and rules us, and produces various fruits with colored flowers and herbs.
Be praised, my Lord, through those who forgive for love of You; through those who endure sickness and trial.
Happy those who endure in peace, for by You, Most High, they will be crowned.
Be praised, my Lord, through our sister Bodily Death, from whose embrace no living person can escape. Woe to those who die in mortal sin! Happy those she finds doing Your most holy will. The second death can do no harm to them.
Praise and bless my Lord, and give thanks, and serve Him with great humility. The Resurrection | Good News?Catholic Wisdom2023-07-12 | Sharing the Good News.
From Pope Francis' Apostolic Exortation EVANGELII GAUDIUM:
"I invite all Christians, everywhere, at this very moment, to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ, or at least an openness to letting him encounter them; I ask all of you to do this unfailingly each day. No one should think that this invitation is not meant for him or her, since “no one is excluded from the joy brought by the Lord”. The Lord does not disappoint those who take this risk; whenever we take a step towards Jesus, we come to realize that he is already there, waiting for us with open arms. Now is the time to say to Jesus: “Lord, I have let myself be deceived; in a thousand ways I have shunned your love, yet here I am once more, to renew my covenant with you. I need you. Save me once again, Lord, take me once more into your redeeming embrace”. How good it feels to come back to him whenever we are lost! Let me say this once more: God never tires of forgiving us; we are the ones who tire of seeking his mercy. Christ, who told us to forgive one another “seventy times seven” (Mt 18:22) has given us his example: he has forgiven us seventy times seven. Time and time again he bears us on his shoulders. No one can strip us of the dignity bestowed upon us by this boundless and unfailing love. With a tenderness which never disappoints, but is always capable of restoring our joy, he makes it possible for us to lift up our heads and to start anew. Let us not flee from the resurrection of Jesus, let us never give up, come what will. May nothing inspire more than his life, which impels us onwards!"“Searching & Finding” #5: Ursula | Judaism, reincarnation, dreams and her spirituality as an author.Catholic Wisdom2023-07-07 | This is the fifth episode of the series "Searching & Finding", where people share with us their spiritual journey, their search and their findings. In this video, I share some thoughts about the ever-present stereotype that Christians follow Jesus Christ because it gives them comfort. The fact that religion DOES bring comfort to people doesn’t mean that comfort is what religion is for. The difference is stated in the Gospel: Jesus says that following Him will give us peace, yes, but much more often He challenges us to a very hard spiritual and moral discipline.Nefarious: reading horrible reviews of this great Christian movieCatholic Wisdom2023-06-26 | My 2 cents about "Nefarious", a recent psychological thriller / horror film. Nefarious is a 2023 American Christian independent horror film written and directed by Chuck Konzelman and Cary Solomon, based on Steve Deace's 2016 novel A Nefarious Plot. The film was released on April 14, 2023, to largely negative reviews from critics, and a vast majority of positive reviews from everyone else.“Searching & Finding” #3: Faith. In the book, Perry, a columnist at the New Statesman, compares liberal feminists surrounding sex to capitalism. Perry argues that effective means of contraception has benefited men by representing sex as a recreational activity. Perry explores the abuse of women who produce pornography, arguing the notion of consent can mask harms and the association between pornography and violent sexual behavior. Considering men, Perry notes the temporal correlation between erectile dysfunction and the use of pornography.
Perry draws upon her experience of working in a rape crisis centre to argue that liberal feminism minimises the sex differences, resulting in an unwillingness to consider what women can do to reduce the risk of sexual assault in a desire to avoid victim blaming. Perry argues the sex-positive movement requires women to not comment on certain sexual behaviours such as kinks, sex work, and engage in sexual behaviour like men.
