Pretty Little Psycho Thumbnail Contest Entry REDRAW//Speedpaint DaMoomin 2022-12-29 | Well well well, nobody sure expected one more Mooming video huh?Shame it isn't actually new content (technically)This speedpaint was a long time coming one. For months, I've been trying to find the time and energy to finally redraw this bad boy and uh... here we are?I'm a bit rusty when it comes to drawing cats, this piece is glaringly different from the old one (Which was made 2,5 years ago!!) both in general art style, but also shading and backgrounds and ahhhhI honestly won't be surprised if you do prefer the old entry, it has its charm and as I said, was drawn in a completely different style. In my eyes, however, it was very much outdated, my most glaring issues as an artist were shining through especially bright in the old entry, be it the "zoomed in" composition or just lack of dynamism and flatness. After 2 long years filled with hard work and two calls posted in total Left Outside Alone is finally completed!Back in the day this project was a really big deal for me, it was my first au and I really REALLY wanted it to make it big like other very well knows evil character aus and I still remember how sad I was when the future of this project looked rather grim in the begining.Of course, as time went on my feelings towards this project soured, the script was less than ideal I would definitely change a lot about it if I were to write it now, the issues that arose while hosting this also made me rather bitter towards it.But as we reached the final stretch and I sat down to edit everything and saw all the parts together all the negative feelings went away. The tom never got over his childhood crush - Spottedleaf and their meetings in dreams only strengthened the already powerful feelings. However Firestar still dreamed of his own kits, who would become his legacy, his successors. When he noticed Sandstorm’s growing feelings for him he saw that as a great opportunity. Acting as her mate, acting like the feelings are mutual, he made her believe that he loves her deeply, that they will create a happy and perfect family together.She was wrong.As soon as their kits were born, a realization hit him, he wasn’t up to having a family, not with someone he didn’t love. He started to regret his decision and left Sandstorm alone, heartbroken. He knew he wouldn’t face any consequences, he never did after all. He was living convinced that everything he does is right, even when others don’t approve, because it always was like that wasn't it? He was the fire who saved the clans, after all, everyone adored him, he had the authority and respect of everyone among the clans, he had everything, friends, Spottedleaf and Brambleclaw who he started treating like his own son.It’s not like one betrayed she-cat will change anything?The hate towards Firestar grew in Sandstorm’s heart, every single time he dared to neglect his family, he dared to push away their daughters, her desire to rip him to pieces grew. Left Outside Alone//Part 22 DaMoomin 2022-02-20 | Here we are, after over a year of working on this particular part I'm finally done.This went through many resketches and redos, when I finally got out of map hell after bad romance I sat down to work on this again only to see that the majority of it is EXTREMELY outdated. So I got to work.Some shots I refused to resketch, forcing me to heavily freestyle during the lineart process for the part to fit my current style. Some of them I had to reanimate from scratch, like the third one, which went through 5 complete redos.This is probably one of my more ambitious parts, with the shading style and it's length as well as the complexity of the animation it was proven to be quite a challenge. It's really inconsistent because I was working on it on and off for so long.Since it's so lengthy and I worked on it in one file instead of separating the shots into separate ones, csp was stuttering and lagging a lot during the whole process and at times it got extremely confusing to navigate due to the sheer amount of layers and folders. The End Of All Things//Part 2 & 14 (Collab) DaMoomin 2021-06-18 | Cries in finished the part after a year-I can't believe how long this took me, it's honestly ridiculous, I started working on my part right after I posted the call WHICH WAS ALMOST TWO YEARS AGOI changed the storyboard so many times because my style was changing and I couldn't settle on compositions, it all was an absolute mess and you can see all the inconsistencies in style and animation in the finished part-Eventually, I decided to just stick to one storyboard, then after some time I sketched out the frames AND THEN, AFTER MONTHS I DECIDED HEY IT'S TIME TO LINE IT AND WAS TOO LAZY TO REDO THE SKETCHES-So yeah, almost everything here is extremely outdatedIt's definitely not my best work, I would love the future map hosts to avoid looking at this when they're considering me for their maps XDBut I'm glad that I finally managed to finish this, and I'm extremely hyped for the completed map which will come out very soon :')For now, hope you like it! Dont Wait For Me//Intro & Part 1 DaMoomin 2021-02-25 | Hello hello hello! I am back after oh god, oh my- 3 months of being dead? XDI guess my inconsistent and rare upload schedule is almost purely my fault plus school is hell :')Every single time, I tell myself, okay okay Moomin, this part is going to take you like, idk, 2 weeks to make, you can do this. And then everything goes to hell as I keep adding stuff, changing stuff, adding detail, doing perfect lineart on SMEAR FRAMES and just putting so much unnecessary work into those few second animations it hurts.This is the perfect example. This was supposed to be a quick little animation with not much effort put into it. However, I picked ocs with the most complicated and not animation friendly designs, I changed the whole thing like three times and then kept changing parts of it as I worked, THE SHOT WITH THE ANIMATED FUR IS BASICALLY 722 FRAMES/LAYERS, I ANIMATED EVERY SINGLE SPOT MANUALLY ON THE LION GUY- And yea, my insane perfectionism has no boundaries whatsoever.The worst thing about this is the fact that all the work I put in my stuff will never ever pay off, and I will get like, idk 100-200 views on this part (probably even less considering the fact that it's an oc map) while shitpost videos that take like 1-2 hours to make will get 20k views in two days. But I guess this is just how this community functions- I ranted about it on my discord server a bit and I won't get more in-depth with this now.
