On this episode of LivinRvision, we reveal the new and MUCH IMPROVED LUXURY CLASS B, Grech RV Strada-ion. If you’re new to our channel, we have been living full-time in an RV for almost 5 years now. We started out with a 40 foot Newmar Ventana Class A motorhome for 2 years and then we lived and traveled in an Airstream Classic 33FB for one year.Then we started testing the Grech RV Strada-ion models as an agreement with Grech RV. They had/have no problem with us sharing any and all information (good or bad) about their luxury Class B motorhomes. We were so impressed with that. It told us that they were very confident in their products. So that made the decision easy. We had the opportunity to work with another company that did not seem to have these same standards and we wanted to work with someone that would allow us to be honest to our viewers.We started off living, working and traveling in the 2022 Grech RV Strada-ion for about 6 months and it worked out very well with no major issue and never having to take it into a repair shop or call a mobile tech. The only issue we had was the AC seal started to leak when it rained and just needed tightened/resealed.Then we had the 2023 Strada-ion for about 9 months and never had to have any repairs made with it either. Leaving Door County and Heading to Duluth | Van Life Travels LivinRVision 2023-08-05 | Leaving Door County and Heading to Duluth | Van Life Travels(EPISODE 249)ℹ️ About this episode: video, including how to find and change your cabin filter in your Mercedes Sprinter van, a place to dump your tanks for free, casinos that allow free overnight parking and more! We start off giving a quick overview of what we did that we didn’t show in last weeks video and then we make our way to Duluth, MN. On the way we make a stop at Ho-Chunk Gaming (a Casino) for a free overnight stay and continue our journey the next morning to Duluth. Our first day in Duluth Minnesota, we stop at the “Festival by the Lake” at Bayfront Festival Park. Then we tour Canal Park and then drive about 20 minutes away to stay the night at another casino for free overnight stay. This casino had a buffet that believe it or not had one of the best Prime Ribs we have ever had and was for a very good price. As we walk into the casino we noticed a concert going on and someone immediately walks up to us and gives us two free tickets that they had extra. So we quickly eat at the buffet and go back to watch the concert for a pleasant surprise. We had no idea who it was and it so happened to be, Jordan Davis! After the concert we went into a pub inside the casino that had another band playing called, Buck Wild. Michelle was feeling a little rambunctious. The next morning we drive back to Duluth and eat at what is now one of our favorite breakfast places, Duluth Grill. Next we drive back down to the same area we parked the day before and take a cruise on Vista Cruise for a tour of the bay. (EPISODE 248)ℹ️ About this episode: On this episode of LivinRvision, we are leaving Iowa and getting back on the road again! It’s hard to believe that we have been in Iowa for two months already. This time we had a chance to visit more family and friends but still not enough time to see everyone. Before we take off we decided to show you just how quick it is for us to tear down every time we leave a campsite with hookups. Then it’s off to Door County, Wisconsin! Along our trip we realized we were going to be really close to Dyersville, Iowa where the movie Filed of Dreams was filmed. Michelle had never been there before so we wanted to make a quick stop to see it all in person. While there, Michelle buys a t-shirt and is more excited with what she got WITH the t-shirt and then we get back on the road for our next stop at the Oneida Casino in Green Bay Wisconsin. We stay the night at the casino before finishing our trek to Door County the next morning. Michelle didn’t feel safe in the parking lot of the casino so we rented a camping site at the casino campground to be closer to the other people with their RVs. The next morning was going to be a big day and was also our anniversary. What an enjoyable anniversary it was! We decided to take a 1 1/2 hour trolly scenic tour first thing in the morning so that we could pick up some tips on the best places to see and best restaurants for some good food. The views we seen was absolutely beautiful and we had an amazing anniversary day. Our first overnight stay starts in Davenport, Iowa at the Rhythm City Casino and Resort. We ended up staying here for a couple nights before making our way to the Amana Colonies. Any time we travel I-80 and are going to be passing by the World’s Largest Truck Stop, we always have to stop and that’s what we did. If you like Buc-ees then you’ll want to stop at the I-80 Trucks stop, aka The World’s Largest Truck Stop.It was time to head to the Amana Colonies but it was gong to be too late to start exploring, so we made a reservation in advance to stay the night at the Amana RV Park & Event Center. We decided to save a little bit of money and just pay for electric and water with no sewer, simply because we could just drive over to the dump station and empty the tanks. (We give a few tips throughout this video, so be sure not to miss anything).The next morning comes and it is time to explore the Amana Colonies to eat some delicious food a rhubarb slushy and then learn about the history of the Amana Colonies. We were both born and raised in Iowa and we both had it ALL wrong about the Amana Colonies. Camping Downtown Chicago? FOR HER BIRTHDAY?! LivinRVision 2023-07-08 | Camping Downtown Chicago? FOR HER BIRTHDAY?! (EPISODE 245)ℹ️ About this episode: Before heading to Chicago, we swing by a couple very quick stops in Mansfield, Ohio to learn more history. Then it was time to start our trek to Chicago with no camping reservations, no Cracker Barrel and no Walmart to stay at near downtown Chicago. Michelle wants to celebrate her birthday downtown Chicago and we figured we were going to have to camp on the outside edges of Chicago and drive through the horrific traffic to the downtown area and then search for somewhere to park our 24' Grech RV Strada-Ion. Luckily, we found a place that ended up being perfect for what we needed and we would definitely recommend this place.We ended up staying there a few nights while working and then we took the day off for Michelle’s birthday. You’ll never guess where she wanted to go...Wrigley Field! She wanted to do a tour to learn more history about the ball park and see a Cubs night game. So we got an Uber and spent an entire day checking out the area and restaurants…oh yes and we started the day off with some amazing "birthday donuts"! You must try this place if you ever go there! They also have a good selection of gluten free donuts that Michelle said she thought they tasted even better than the regular donuts and even the regular donuts were VERY good!It was time to start our 90 minute tour of Wrigley field and all we can say is, WOW! This is a tour that is well worth your time and money! Next, we stop by the Cubs shop to grab Michelle a couple birthday gifts and then take a walk to a restaurant called, Happy Camper. Yes, Happy Camper, and the food was delicious! A must try! It's the Mansfield Prison, also known as the Ohio State Reformatory. As you will see in the video, they had to open the gate when we arrived because they were still closed.Located in Mansfield, Ohio, this late-19th-century building looks more like a grand hotel that once housed the rich and famous. Built between 1886 and 1910, the Ohio State Reformatory was once operated as a maximum-security prison.This facility was seen in a number of films, TV shows and music videos but was made famous by the 1994 film, The Shawshank Redemption, when it was used for most scenes of the movie. This prison is also known as one of the most haunted prisons in the United States! This prison saw thousands of prisoners during its operation between 1896 and 1986. Originally believed to be a humane prison where offenders could be rehabilitated, it quickly devolved into a place known for torture, abuse and murder. Inmates eventually filed a lawsuit describing its inhabitable conditions. The ghosts of the violent and maltreated men from this prison are not easily silenced. We quickly start finding little hidden gems along the this journey and half of them were unplanned. We almost didn’t make the first stop as we glanced over to our right and seen a beautiful waterfall right off the side of the roadway called, Cathedral Falls. So we make a quick stop and get some beautiful photos and video and continue on down the road just a short distance as we travel through a cute little town called Glen Ferris, WV which had another waterfall along the river called, Kanawha Falls. What a spectacular view and once again, right off the side of the road where you can even view from your vehicle and again, unplanned.It was time for dinner and we decided to keep driving until we get to Charleston, WV and spend the night there at another Cracker Barrel. Then we start off the next morning by making a quick stop downtown Charleston to a highly rated breakfast restaurant called, "First Watch". We couldn’t spend much time in Charleston so we started making our way north to Hocking Hills State Park where we first stop to take a short hike to Cedar Falls. You do not want to miss this beautiful hike and falls. The area around the falls is full of spectacular views! 💯👍🏻👍🏻Next, we move on down the road to take a quick tour through a campground called, Old Man’s Cave Campground, still within the State Park. Then we drive down to the Hocking Hills State Park Visitors Center where we take a hike to see more spectacular views to Old Man’s Cave and a few waterfalls. This is a MUST stop/hike, so be sure not to miss this on your trip to Hocking Hills State Park! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️It was time to start traveling further North and after browsing the Harvest Hosts app, we found a Harvest Host location that ended up being probably our favorite Harvest Hosts we have ever stayed at to date. It’s called "BrewDog Dog Tap" and is MUCH more than it sounds. A brewery, restaurant, arcade, museum, dog friendly HOTEL (that some of the rooms have an open view into the brewery), dog park, brewery tours and more! They even have a huge parking lot for RVs to park. Along the way, we find a little hidden gem country store that has a lot of variety to choose from. As you know, we are in a rush to get as much content as we can while we make our way back to visit family and friends and most days that we get are very limited on how much time we can spend at each stop or how many stops we can make before we need to keep going. So we have to be choosey and do some research to figure out what we think would be the best spots to stop at that will make the best out of the little time we have. Our intentions are to have enough content to edit for a few weeks while we are visiting family and friends on the weekends, so that we don’t have to film on the weekends like we normally do. Then, once we leave Iowa again, we will be back to our “normal” schedule.Our next stop tin the New River Gorge National Park takes us to the Grandview Main Overlook! This is a must stop! The views here are spectacular and if you have the time, there are nearby trails that you can take for more beautiful views. Just be sure to bring your favorite bugs spray. 🦟As we continue to travel, we decide to stop in a historic little ghost town called, Thurman. This little town only has one way in and it is a LONG railroad bridge that is only a ONE WAY, so make sure you don’t see any other vehicles crossing when you decide to drive across. We also share some very interesting history about this little ghost town as well.Next, we are heading for the New River Gorge Bridge which is known as one of the main attractions of this National Park and for good reason! Our first stop takes us to the Petersburg National Battlefield Eastern Front where we find the first interesting story and Civil War debacle. Then we make a stop in the old downtown area of Petersburg, VA to find a good place to eat.Next we drive up to Fredericksburg, VA where we spend a couple days. Before heading out of Fredericksburg, I remembered a Civil War historical site that my cousin took me to about 10 years ago when I went out to visit him. Any place that I have visited without Michelle, I always want to take her to so that I have memories of those places to share with her and not just to myself. I always hated to see things without her when I was traveling for work.This place is called, Chatham Manor and it is only open until 5 pm. We don’t finish working until after 5pm, so we decided to get up early and drive over to the Chatham Manor parking lot and work until lunch and then take a 30 minute lunch break to quickly explore the property and get as much video footage as we can so that we could share the history with our viewers.I remember some of the history to Chatham Manor but learned even more on this short tour, especially afterwards when I was editing this video and learned even more as I pieced it together. When we first arrived at the entrance to the estate, we were blown away at the long drive just to get to the parking lot. The “driveway” alone was impressive, but that was just the beginning! This place is HUGE!There was plenty of places to park our Grech RV Strada-Ion…aka “Mini Vinny 2.0”.From the parking lot, we take the shuttle bus to the Biltmore home (mansion), and as we browse around and take in the amazing views around the mansion and then through the gardens, we were awestruck! Wow, what a beautiful walk!Next, we make our way back and through the interior of the mansion that just left our jaws dropped. It doesn’t stop there! Next to the mansion are restaurants including one with the booths made from the old horse stables and even a bakery…did I mention a bakery? Then we take the shuttle back to the van and drive down to Antler Hill Village (still part of the Estate) which has a winery, more restaurants, a museum, farm, ice cream shop, live music and more. As you know, we like to utilize our Harvest Hosts membership as much as possible, so before our stop in Asheville, NC, we stop at a Harvest Host called, R.M. Rose Distillery. This place has some very long history to it that we found very interesting. This is what we love so much about utilizing the Harvest Hosts locations during our travels. It forces us to stop at so many different unique places and we end up learning even more history (and of course, finding more great foods and drinks as well). Speaking of, we then we make our way to a Mexican Restaurant with another unique feature in this day and time - a robot food server! We do love our Mexican food and any time we can find a new place along our travels that has good to great reviews, we try to stop. Our next stop takes us to a small campground that we found using our AllStays app. We were needing a place to dump our tanks and this place popped up along our route, so we decided to stop and utilize this handy location and it only costs $5 to dump tanks here! Our next stop was yet another unplanned and unexpected stop. We were looking for a place to have dinner and found another a place right along our route in a historic little town called, Dillsboro, NC. We found a great bbq place called Haywood Smokehouse that has amazing bbq and dessert - just ask pie girl! We start off driving through the downtown area of Charleston and make our way over to The Battery. This is also the site of where an enslaved crewmember (Robert Smalls) on a ship called the Planter, commandeered a heavily armed Confederate ship and delivered its 17 black passengers (nine men, five women and three children) from slavery to freedom, all in the midst of the Civil War. We find all sorts of history within the downtown area as well as great restaurants and the Charleston City Market. The next day we decided to go to Johns Island where we witnessed The Angel Oak Tree. This Southern Live Oak tree is a historical site and focal point of one of the City of Charleston's public parks. It is considered to be the largest Live Oak Tree east of the Mississippi estimating to be 300 to 400 years old. While you're in this area, don't forget to stop at the Angel Oak Restaurant! In this episode of, LivinRvision, we also do a test to see how much it costs us to run the engine at idle to charge the Lithium-ion batteries for 3 hours. (Note: This is something that we were told by the manufacturer that is okay to do for 2 or 3 hours because we drive a lot of hwy miles that cleans the DPF and keeps the engine clean.
