Saving Sandfish Project Youth 4 Conservation 2023-09-06 | Saving Sandfish Project - school trips to the CederbergYouth 4 Conservation is collaborating with the Freshwater Research Centre (FRC) to provide a conservation-based experience in the Cederberg mountains while directly contributing to saving the Clanwilliam sandfish from extinction! The Saving Sandfish Project was initiated by the FRC to undertake Africa’s largest ever freshwater fish rescue by relocating over 15,000 juvenile sandfish to dams that serve as sanctuaries. When these fish are large enough, they will be released back into the river with the hope that their numbers will be boosted in the wild and they will return to spawn.We are so excited to participate in this project while providing an opportunity for school groups to be actively involved in an important conservation strategy. 🐟A huge thank you to talented filmmaker and volunteer, James Cawood, for creating this video to share. Botswana - Waterhole repair Youth 4 Conservation 2025-01-26 | In November, 2024, a group of volunteers at our Botswana Camp worked over the course of several days to repair a waterhole that was broken.
