The Genesis of the Solar System | ASMR Lets Find Out 2024-06-11 | To birth the solar system, you must first invent the universe. - something Carl Sagan probably would've said.The creation of the solar system is a tale of cosmic evolution that spans billions of years. According to the currently accepted Nebular Hypothesis, approximately 4.6 billion years ago, a vast molecular cloud, possibly 65 light-years across and primarily composed of hydrogen, helium, and traces of heavier elements, floated in the dark depths closer to the center of our then-young Milky Way Galaxy. This enormous nebula, was the cradle of our solar system.A significant event, perhaps a nearby supernova explosion, disturbed the calm of this nebula, causing it to collapse under its own gravity. As it contracted, the nebula began to spin faster and flattened into a rotating disk. At the heart of this collapsing cloud, most of the material clumped together to form a protostar—the nascent Sun. As the protostar continued to accumulate mass, the pressure and temperature at its core increased until nuclear fusion ignited, and it began to shine as a true star.Surrounding the young Sun was a disk of gas and dust, where the remaining material started to gather into smaller clumps, gradually forming larger bodies known as planetesimals. In the hotter, inner regions of this disk, rocky planets began to take shape—Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. Farther out, where it was cooler, the gas giants Jupiter and Saturn, along with the ice giants Uranus and Neptune, started to form. As the Sun continued to shine, it emitted powerful solar winds that swept away the leftover gas and dust, clearing the path for the nascent planets to settle into stable orbits. During this time, smaller celestial bodies like moons, asteroids, and comets also formed, many of them remnants of the early planetesimals.Over millions of years, the solar system gradually stabilized. Green noise is known as the best natural ambient noise. Probably most similar to the jet-engine hum of an airplane or a busy highway from a distance, it's also like being inside a cozy room during a heavy rain, being on top of a windy mountain, or hearing the mesmerizing sound of a distant, roaring waterfall. Green noise is a variant of white noise with some of the higher frequencies muted. I use it for tuning out distracting sounds around me so I can concentrate on the task at hand. I've also used it to help my babies sleep on the go and to sleep myself when I have too much noise around.There are NO mid-roll ads (after the single pre-roll ad), and it's 10 hours (again, with NO ads in the middle), so you can get a full night's sleep with no disruptions. *I specifically made this for myself, because I couldn't find any Green Noise that was both high quality and had a good EQ (the mid-EQ emphasis is more gentle on my ears over long periods of listening). Tonight's book was published in 1658 by Dr. Thomas Brown, titled, "Pseudodoxia Epidemica: Or Enquiries into Very many Received Tenets, and Commonly Presumed Truths," also known simply as "Pseudodoxia Epidemica" or "Vulgar Errors." It's a work challenging and refuting the "vulgar" or common errors and superstitions of Brown's age. The work was in the vanguard of work-in-progress scientific journalism during the 17th-century scientific revolution and includes evidence of his adherence to the Baconian method of empirical observation of nature. And as we'll see throughout its pages, frequent examples of Browne's subtle humor can also be found.Browne's three determinants for obtaining truth were the authority of past scholarly works, the act of reason, and empirical experience. Each of these determinants is employed upon subjects ranging from common folklore to the cosmological. It was published sometime between 1829 and 1833 in the late Edo period of Japan; a period of about 200 years (1641-1853), where all of Japan was forcibly closed to contact from the rest of world by its emperor (with a very small exception for highly restricted Chinese, Korean, and Dutch trade in a single port). It was agreed among most of the "Framers" of the Constitution that a direct, popular vote for President meant that 51% of citizens could be cajoled into voting for a great showman but incompetent leader.In 1776, the States had essentially evolved into their own countries, but had to form a federation (now the oldest extant one in the world) or be conquered by the 18th century European superpowers (England, Spain, and France). Because of their colonial origins though, they demanded to retain their sovereign right to make laws that represented the will of their people. So, the electoral college was created and cemented into the U.S. Constitution as a way for each State's directly-elected officials (representing the voice of the people, and liable to be voted out of office if failing to do so) to personally vet and select "Electors" from their State whose sole task was to deliberate and vote for a President. Each State would receive a number of Electors equal to the number of representatives they have in the U.S. Congress. (This is 2 senators for every State, and a number of Representatives proportional to the State's population.)Which ever Presidential Candidate wins the majority (greater than 50%) of electoral votes wins.
