With 24 units a cube can be made that also can be observed as being a stella octangula (stellated octahedron, also known as 3D star of David). This build can be extended as in a tessellation. Besides that, some other shapes can be made, some pentagonal, also one resembling an egg. The mathematical name of the 3D oval shape is a ellipsoid, see ellipsoid on Wikipedia.
