Motorola saw an opportunity, especially with the new F32T8 lamp that showed promise in replacing the incumbant F40T12, and decided to dive head-first into the electronic fluorescent lamp ballast market. What resulted were the highest-quality and highest-tech ballasts of the 1990s - good enough that the likes of GE re-labeled them, and Sylvania decided to buy Motorola's lighting division.

Sony has not manufactured replacement batteries in almost 20 years, but the battery itself became a standard in the broadcast video market, with third parties making both equipment (we have lights and field monitors at the station that use them) to use the batteries, and the batteries themselves.
Today these third-party broadcast-market batteries can be bought easily and affordably, but will they work in vintage Sony equipment, which often won't accept batteries that don't properly implement the InfoLithium circuitry? Let's find out.
