The plane at the start is a Desoutter Mk II. The registration on the plane is VH-UPS, which is an Australian registration. The plane was sold to Canada on December 21st 1931. The plane was not registered in Canada until February 10th 1933.

The airport on Sea Island opened in 1931 and it was initially owned by the City of Vancouver
