The COOLEST McDonalds in the world! Fact!
Welcome to Toe-paw, New Zealand. A town famous for its massive volcanic lake, trout fishing, and the World’s Coolest McDonalds. And we can honestly say, we’ve NEVER eaten a Big Mac and Fries somewhere as weird as this!
This McDonald’s is the only one in the world that has a REAL, complete and full size airplane built into the restaurant!
Step inside ZK-CAW, a Douglas DC-3 Built in Long Beach in 1943, and it’s survived WWII and has 56,282 genuine flying hours on its clock - none of which, interestingly, were logged doing McDeliveries.
It even features its original cockpit! All these dials and switches once navigated the South Pacific. Now, the only thing being monitored is the Drive Thru traffic, the only thing being pressurized is your cholesterol.
The floor is slanted at a jaunty angle, as if you’re actually flying, meaning if you don’t secure your milkshake or your lively toddler, physics may reclaim them. There are ten tables for two giving it a slightly less than the original flying capacity of 48. Extra legroom then, that’s a rarity!
It’s immersive. It’s "aviation-chic." It’s also roughly 40 degrees Celsius in here during the summer because it’s authentically without air conditioning. A warbird retired to a life of salt, sesame seeds and screaming kids. It’s utterly ridiculous. Do do do do dooo, I’m lovin it.
