Lenz Foundation Joanna Macy Residential Fellow, Dr. Monica Mueller, explores how contemplative education, critical consciousness of interpersonal dynamics with regards to justice, and equity, and ecological participation in the larger living system, create the space and culture that contributes to the healing of our world. She discusses the importance of cultivating awareness and ethical values to navigate today's socio-political and ecological challenges.
Monica holds a PhD in Ethics and Social/Political philosophy from Binghamton University, and leads inquiry into subjects such as Feminist Philosophy, Environmental Ethics, and Phenomenology at Portland State University. Her dedication to transformative education is perhaps most evidenced in her work in prison settings, where Monica offers courses that support the agency of those marginalized by overlapping oppressive systems.
