Happy Octopath II day!! I decided to release this one on the same day as the second game comes out, even though I finished it on the 21st. I am super excited to share this one, as I've been planning it for some time, and I think I did the best job with mixing I've ever done so far. I also got a new guitar as you can tell in the video, the Ibanez RGMS8. I wanted to replace the weird 8-string I've had for a while, since it's uncomfortable to play, and doesn't sound quite how I want it to, particular on the lowest string. This new one kicks it out of the park for sure! I even recorded a solo for someone else's project with this guitar, and it sounded great in that context as well!

As for this video, I knew from the get go that I wanted to give it a bit of a thrashier/deathier kind of metal sound, with symphonic/gothic elements. The beginning kind of reminds me of A Nightmare to Remember by Dream Theater since it also has the 16th triplet chuggy riff on with the epic choir/string stuff going on. This might be biased on me wanting to hear the new guitar, but I placed a big emphasis on the rhythm guitar this time around, and the lead guitars are pushed back a little bit compared to my previous covers. I managed to make them still perfectly audible though with some EQing and whatnot. I will say, the lead parts were also the easiest to play in this cover, with the bass and rhythm parts being the hardest, since there's lots of intricate rhythms going on throughout the whole thing.

I am super excited to play Octopath II by the way! How about you? I already pre-ordered it, and I even ran through the first game again, actually managing to beat Galdera this time (well hopefully... at the time of writing this, I haven't, but I'll just pretend that I did by the time you see this lol)
