After some research and tests with them, I managed to get the correct rendering for some areas that were previously completely black. However, this wasn't enough for the faces during cutscenes, so I made another fix specifically for them. Goodbye to Noob Saibot's siblings. Farewell to the Outworld! 😈
You might also notice that the annoying line that appeared in the middle of the screen is no longer there, thanks to @esppiral for the fix! (and ElectronAsh for explaining it) 😉
The rendering is more pleasant than before but keep in mind that the Dreamcast is capable of more, especially when guys like skmp (@poiitidis) @FalcoGirgis jaxyn @darcagn @IanMicheal are in the place! 👀

For this video I used my optimized audio files made with a script that analyze the frequency spectrum using Fast Fourier Transform which allowed to significantly reduce their size (audio takes up a large portion of the space occupied by the game)
The entire game now fits into just 406 MB, the idea that GTA III couldn't be ported to the Dreamcast due to the game's DVD format is now out the window 😂

Lets take a ride in Liberty City! 🚗Frogbull2024-07-18 | Several people rightly pointed out that I used the term "Playable" in the title of my previous video to refer to skmp's amazing regta3dc project, when in fact, it wasn't really playable... 😅
I could have changed the title of my video, but instead, against all logic and good programming practices, I decided to play Conan the Barbarian in the game's source code by employing numerous dirty hacks: reducing vehicles and pedestrians, modifying LOD distances, and so forth, but as you can see, it's now PLAYABLE... 😈
Don't worry, I've also made a few hacks that aren't as messy and don't impact gameplay, like reducing the number of particles and debris, for example.
I also discovered that the PS2 and PC models were different (the PS2 3D models have fewer triangles!), and I'm thrilled to have been able to import the PS2 3D model of the game's starting vehicle (the good old Kuruma, for those in the know 😎) instead of the PC version previously used. Pushing this further will undoubtedly lead to even better performance!
The video has no editing at all apart from the music overlaid (for now, regta3dc does not handle audio).
For years, skeptics questioned whether the Dreamcast could handle GTA III, echoing doubts similar to those faced by the Sega Saturn. Now, it's time to rewrite the narrative and demonstrate what "Dreams come true" truly means! 💪

Shortly after, he shared the first screenshots and a video, and made the project open source.
In this preview video, I made slight modifications to regta3dc by compiling the source code with a dirty hack to achieve higher FPS, though this comes at the cost of reduced draw distance and lower 3D model quality. Additionally, it's important to note that the project is in its early stages, and there are numerous bugs. The game currently lacks audio support, so I’ve added music (Push It to the Limit!) in the edit.
A huge thank you to Stefanos Kornilios Mitsis Poiitidis for this ambitious project, to all the developers in the Dreamcast scene, to the developers of the re3 project and ofc to Rockstar! 🙏

Sega crafted fantastic Star Wars arcade gems at the end of the '90s, such as Star Wars Trilogy: Arcade and (my personal favorite) Star Wars: Racer Arcade ❤️ Sadly, these games never made their way to the Dreamcast, and we were left with only three Star Wars titles on Sega's 128-bit console: Jedi Power Battles, Demolition, and the excellent Episode I: Racer.
Surprisingly, none of these Dreamcast games allowed players to take control of an X-Wing, a missed opportunity given the console's capabilities.
This omission is particularly perplexing when we consider that in 1998, around the Dreamcast's launch in Japan, a major hit co-developed by Factor 5 and LucasArts was released: Rogue Squadron (and contrary to some misconceptions, the game wasn't a Nintendo 64 exclusive; it also saw a release on PC).
Now, with Star Wars: Dream of the Rebellion, you can finally fulfill your dream of piloting an X-Wing and defending the galaxy on Dreamcast.

It's now possible to integrate the playback of Cinepak-encoded video files into projects that utilize the Sega Graphics Library (SGL) so we aren't anymore limited to the Sega Basic Library (SBL). This opens the door to numerous applications as the video playback is handled through the VDP2.
My encoding of the Dragon Ball opening isn't great and serves only as an example. I haven't aimed for the best possible output as TrekkiesUnite already demonstrated that, with the right settings, achieving video quality similar to the PlayStation Motion Decoder (MDEC) with Cinepak is possible.

The soundtrack has been remixed (with sadly no option to go back to the original one) and it's the same for the sounds, some are good but some are a nightmare especially the commentator who's yelling at you "Try to go easy on the car!"
Other additions that I appreciate even less have been made, a menu at the bottom of the screen show in a merry mess the 40 competitors' banners and the thing that I really HATE, a §ùçk!ng menu that pops time to time on the left side of the screen that sends LASERS in all directions in front of you! It's not Star Wars, it's Daytona damn it!!
To fix all that I decided to make a Mod for this unloved Daytona, my goal is simple: Make Daytona Great Again!
Here is the current result, it's still in WIP but it's progressing well. As you can see I managed to get rid of the annoying menus and the §ùçk!ng LASERS and was able to get the original soundtrack back in but I still have a bit of work to do. I have to integrate the sounds of the original commentator and adjust the sound level of each sounds/musics at the same level as on the good old Daytona USA.
