The song Old Spirits Calling on the Wind was written one stormy night in a house overlooking the Atlantic ocean in West Clare, the wind was howling down the chimney and it had an almost ghostly voice, which stirred up various images and I began to think of our ancestors who lived, worked and shaped the land and who would eventually become a part of it themselves, it's about theirs and our relationship with it and the elemental forces that influence it, and how if we take time to just listen we might just feel and maybe appreciate them and our countryside more.

They've come back where life it did begin
In this old house, the doors and windows do shake
A mighty tempest has stirred their souls awake
Down the chimney, I hear their songs howl
An ancient hymn of hope has come back to this town
In the morning light, the grass dances in the fields
Where once upon a time the old folks did live and breathe
The clouds now seem to float down upon the sea
The rolling waves roar shall set your hearts free
The lashing of the rain on rock makes you feel alive
Cherish all this life before its demise
In the dark of night, a candle flickers far away
A shining light of love from far-off days
