“MODERATE COGNITIVE DECLINE” (SIDES G+H+I+J)
Moderate cognitive decline is often the longest part of the disease - the one most similar to the still active but scatterbrained senior. Lasting around two years, this is the stage where more fundamental cognitive issues begin to present themselves. Fundamental elements of recall begin to give way, the ability to recollect personal details begins to fade, calculations and sense of time start to falter. Language and communication is disrupted, and due to these factors and increasing delirium withdrawal from even moderately stressful situations is likely - all of this causes and is worsened by depressive symptoms, relatively common substance abuse, increasing confusion and the cognitive last resort of outright denial.

(it sounds way better here!)
The Director of Dreams returns once more to the entropic decay with a quieter, aged, and more self-absorbed collection of the synaptic bindings and patterns we call memories. Through a collection of fusty classics from the 40s and 50s, the warmly lit yet flickering aura of recall illuminates memories and the remains of their contents to a world that has long since forgotten them. They go somewhere, but ultimately nowhere. Their age alludes to the persistence of older, frequently called upon recollections, while their frayed condition, fragmentation, and tapestry of emotions emulate the unpredictable quality of recall in a number of neurological diseases, and the confused, empty, spasmodically beautiful moments they create.

27:16 - Subconscious worn to nothing
28:51 - Chasms of broken dreams
30:33 - In entropy is peace of mind

I don't have the modding expertise to make this myself, but if you're a modder with the experience to, it would be nice to see this come to life. All I ask is to link back here and explicitly credit Leyland Kirby/The Caretaker and link to his BandCamp. (and get permission if possible, though iirc non-profit stuff is ok).
Fallout: New Vegas is one of my favorite games of all times, and with the influx of new fans to the series (and my own personal replaying of the games) I've been going through the game in a myriad of different ways.
Being someone who makes caretaker-esque music Dead Money is one of my favorite DLCs as it deals explicitly with nostalgia, greed, and dark undertones beneath. What else could be more fitting than distorted, creepy music on top of it all?

reCJD is a minimalist, faithful reMAKE of Matthew Eder's CJD, exploring the titular disease and its wasting away of life, soul, and mind. Made using minimalist effects and techniques from older caretaker fan projects, it's a rather vintage and raw experience.
Side A
The beginning of the end. Unnoticable tremors and memory loss begin as the brain starts to atrophy.
0:00 A1 - A sad song to remember the days gone by
3:10 A2 - Summer breeeze warms my aching heart
5:49 A3 - What if I felt alive again
7:08 A4 - Looking back to when things were easy
9:27 A5- Grains of hope
Side B
Mood changes and depression seep in as proteins continue to misfold.
14:00 B1 - Our whole lives
17:44 B2 - Misfortunate Soul
20:35 B3 - Shaky hands
25:03 B4 - Helpless denial
27:04 B5 - Downward spiral
Side C
As atrophy grows exponential, memories start to fade from the subconscious - more effort is needed to remember.
30:09 C1 - In the corner of my eye
32:17 C2 - Sands of time flowing much too fast
34:40 C3 - A helpless song
35:53 C4 - Grains of delay
37:45 C5 - Hope misfortunate
Side D
Hallucinations and myoclonus lead to much lower overall quality of life as the brain continues to crumble.
41:11 D1 - Hands flowing easy
43:40 D2 - All faces gather away
47:02 D3 - Hopeless spiral
49:56 D4 - Grieving for one's own
51:30 D5 - True rejoice
Side E
Thoughts reverberate back and forth repeating ad infinitum. Only minute fragments of clear ideas are left to repeat endlessly until everything falls away.
52:56 E1 - Felt gather rejoice
53:38 E2 - Soul time sands
56:43 E3 - Summer hand ache
59:44 E4 - What if it was all just a terrible nightmare
1:03:01 E5 - Final coherent thoughts

MASSIVE THANK YOU TO @slorpanoid FOR ASSEMBLY AND COMPILATION!!
The 1960s was a time of massive change. Social bounds shifted - civil rights expanded - apocalyptic powers churned underneath the Earth and in the sky. Where times were dark and uncertain - where the end of the world was a button press away. And yet, against malignant forces both within and without, the youth of the world - the post WW2 generation - found ways to enjoy it all despite it.
The Symphony of Dreams awakens once more to bring you to a tired and lonesome place covered by rust and watched over by forces of the occult and malintent. The discotheque is dead and abandoned, and yet the new world continues regardless, determining their own destinies.
00:00 - Slorpanoid, Molten, Aniball - The future one day away
04:34 - Thiago - We pressed our lips against each other
06:12 - 1583637, UNKNOWN - Intentions made of cellophane
08:40 - 1583637 - This loop has been treaded on by others
12:13 - Aniball - Entropy of the discotheque
15:06 - 1583637 - My body is growing numb
18:40 - Skypiez - Let's light a smoke and throw our lives away
23:22 - Aniball, PXTSERYU - The misinterpretation bloomed
27:19 - Slorpanoid - Everything has its consequences, even happiness
30:45 - MiasmaSpasm63 - I can't just let them do this to you
34:09 - 1583637 - Darker truths hidden from us
36:25 - Skypiez, Slorpanoid - Looming external forces

“MILD ALZHEIMER’S” (SIDES E+F)
In the course of Alzheimer's, episodes of forgetfulness and confusion can result in an earlier, preemptive diagnosis. Many try to live with the truth and actively fight the decline, with some eventually finding refuge from reality in harmful coping mechanisms. As time goes on, communication skills and vocabulary begin to suffer. Memory loss becomes ever more sudden and intrusive as the disease continues to impact every aspect of life, day by day.

Compiled, mastered, released, and remembered on the anniversary of my grandfather's death from Alzheimer's and cancer in 2022. He always joked about senility and his age, and would often ask this question whenever he saw me. I never found out when it stopped being a joke.
You are free to pay for this release on Bandcamp if you wish. Any and all money put towards this release will go directly to the Alzheimer's Association. However, what I encourage you to do instead is to visit those in your life who are older - especially those in homes or dealing with circumstances similar to the conditions that the Symphony (and I) make projects about. They will enjoy your company, even if it's over the phone. And that company is more valuable than you can possibly imagine.

With NATMOSR releasing this weekend I decided it was time to remake my favorite track out of any release in the entirety of the discography.
I discovered NATMOS around the time the original Stage 3 had come out and went through the entire thing. This track stuck with me and still does to this day. It gives off a really intoxicating sense of nostalgia and maintains that somewhat on a meta level due to how long it's been (two and a half years) since I joined the Caretaker community in full. As much as this community has changed I'm still happy to be here for the long run. Thanks for the good memories, the connections, the skills learned, and everything else. Here's to so much more.
DIFFERENCES:
-Primary loop made more jarring with a self-recorded record skip
-Last loop is split in two to simulate memory issues or something idk it sounded cool
-Static is different, limiter is used to simulate the wavy "coming back in feeling" after every loop
-Taken from my direct vinyl rip of Love Zone
Credit to Jordan Keuring for the original track (B5 - That special melody)
"shadlbulb" (2020) by Barnum Effekt with edits by Jordan Keuring, then Frix, then me
0:00 Loop 1
2:28 Loop 2
DIFFERENCES:
-Track now only loops twice and is 27 seconds shorter
-Loop is made longer to compensate and to include a new section that seamlessly loops the track
-7.12 semitone slowdown vs 7.14 of the original
-Vinyl crackle is taken from a 1945 single record, the panning is 100% organic in nature

This range of the disease is characterized by increased changes in thinking and behavior. Victims begin to notice their own failings, leading to anxiety and doubt. Daily tasks that require concentration and commitment become increasingly difficult and symptoms of mental illness soon present themselves due to and because of their phantom condition.

"COMMON FORGETFULNESS" - SIDES A+B
While it's hard to pinpoint exactly where noticeable memory less begins, common forgetfulness is where the first symptoms begin to affect the victim beyond the average mistakes of old age. Most are consciously unaware, and the disease is often undiscoverable clinically. However, as time slips by, the disease begins to become more and more noticeable as subconscious shifts in thinking and cognition begin to affect the daily routine.

"To describe the true warmth, the feeling and sincerity in this album is to describe the man. He is exactly as he sings, his voice fillsd with realism and honesty. Some one once said "He makes you believe what he is singing", and that he does! Whatever he chooses to sing becomes his song - whether a Glen Campbell classic or a Barbara Streisand million seller. When Rick sings a song, you get the full meaning of the lyrics and what they are supposed to say.
These are some of the reasons I recommend this very well-produced album to every type of music listener. In this world of "lookalikes" and "sound-alike", it certainly is...one of a kind!"

The souls of a generation reunite and gather one last time, entering warped perceptions and lost memories of times past - a place of romance and love, fear and malice, grandeur and loneliness. The Symphony returns with a look behind the foreclosure signs, past the boarded up doors, in a empty room covered in cobwebs where music faintly plays and purple silhouettes illuminate a ghostly scene that no mortal man can comprehend. Welcome to the Otherworldy Discotheque.

Milwaukee Protocol was a plunderphonic hauntology album showcasing the progression of human rabies, aiming to depict the emotions and thoughts of someone throughout every part of the disease over the course of four "days."
When progress began, this album was initially a special release for halloween. It has since morphed and shifted into a work that bears little resemblance to its original concept, and to a normal Caretaker fan project. Throughout development this has always been a group effort - to everyone involved, I thank you for your help and contribution. Stay safe.
Credits for tracks marked VARIOUS are in a comment on this video.
DAY 1 - PRODROMAL
You should've gone to sleep earlier last night. Feels like you're moving through molasses waking up. Your head is pulsing - you're sweating a little. Maybe it's the heat wave.
Later in the day, you feel a bit uneasy. Could be your anxiety - been like that for a while, and your body is on fumes after only four hours of sleep. The subway feels louder today - though you haven't left work during rush hour in a while. You swear someone tried whispering in your ear on the way home.
It is already too late.

DAY 2 - SYMPTOMATIC
You wake up on day two feeling different than before. A blistering headache becomes a rising fever. You feel exhausted and dehydrated, but the thirst goes away as soon as you see your sink. You’re on edge for a reason you can’t put your finger on. In fact, you’re starting to have trouble putting your mind to anything. Your fingers slip and you have trouble holding things. Nothing you do eases your anxiety.
The sun goes down. Your head starts racing. Someone’s looking at you through the windows. Something’s peering through the blinds. You’re hearing voices. You’re seeing eyes in trees. You don’t sleep. You can’t sleep.

DAY 3 - ACUTE NEUROLOGICAL PERIOD
Something sends you over the edge. Your speech slips and slurs. You ramble. You feel thirstier than you ever have in your entire life and go for water - and feel horrified looking at it. You try drinking it, and your throat spasms as a pain like needles wracks your mouth. You haven’t drank water in days - your lips bleed from dehydration.
You feel sound. Your thalamus is on fire - neurons hijacked by a ravenous force send the entire body into a frenzy. You’re in agonizing pain. You spasm and writhe and scream and cry as restraints are tightened and sedation is applied, with said sedation becoming increasingly less useful. Unreal anger and absolute horror blend and become one as time stops meaning anything to you.
Your hippocampus starts to go as you stop remembering things. Reality melts apart at the seams. Everything is infinite and nothing is anywhere. You are alone, restrained, hallucinating, confused, frothing uncontrollably, and absolutely terrified.
