Old Reel ServerQuatermass II is a British science-fiction serial, originally broadcast by BBC Television in the autumn of 1955. It is the second in the Quatermass series by writer Nigel Kneale, and the oldest of those serials to survive in its entirety in the BBC archives.
The serial sees Professor Bernard Quatermass of the British Experimental Rocket Group being asked to examine strange meteorite showers. His investigations lead to his uncovering a conspiracy involving alien infiltration at the highest levels of the British Government. As even some of Quatermass's closest colleagues fall victim to the alien influence, he is forced to use his own unsafe rocket prototype, which recently caused a nuclear disaster at an Australian testing range, to prevent the aliens from taking over mankind.
Although sometimes compared unfavourably to the first and third Quatermass serials,[1] Quatermass II was praised for its allegorical concerns of the damaging effects of industrialisation and the corruption of governments by big business.[2] It is described on the British Film Institute's "Screenonline" website as "compulsive viewing."

The film, which was advertised with the tagline "He menaced women with his weird desires!", is in the public domain.
A restored version was made available in 1999, as part of a double feature with another Esper film, Narcotic! (1933). John Wilson, the founder of the Golden Raspberry Award, named Maniac one of the "100 Most Amusingly Bad Movies Ever Made" in his book The Official Razzie Movie Guide. Maniac has received negative reception since its release, being the first film considered the worst ever made and is an oft-cited example of pornographic films.

Cast notes
Several key cast members in the film are uncredited, most notably the cat-farming neighbor Goof, the detective, and Maria Altura, the woman whom Dr. Meirschultz brings back to life. The actress who doubled for Altura in the brief nude scene has also not been identified. Horace B. Carpenter was a producer, director and actor from the silent era who generally portrayed whitehaired characters in Westerns once sound emerged. This is the only film that Bill Woods performed in. He later became a makeup artist, working in film and television until 1968. Marian Blackton is sometimes reported, incorrectly, as appearing in male drag as the neighbor who catches and breeds cats. She plays a female neighbor who is questioned by the detective. The male actor who plays Goof has not been identified. Blackton was the sister of Maniac's assistant director and daughter of J. Stuart Blackton, founder of Vitagraph Studios and the father of American animation. The actress named Phyllis Diller in this film is of no relation to the comedian Phyllis Diller. Celia Jiminez, billed under her married name of Celia McCann, was also a Spanish-language voice artist, having the Spanish-language voice for Minnie Mouse and other female cartoon characters. Her daughter, also named Celia McCann, is a movie extra, and her granddaughter is comedian Julie Brown.Eagle in a Cage (1972)Old Reel Server2023-04-18 | In 1815, a soldier becomes the Governor of St. Helena, and jailer of Napoleon.

It is such a visual subject it made for a good film. I knew the 3-D quality could only be appreciated if I moved the camera so I moved it. Right after it came out, I got a call from someone at Universal Film wondering how I achieved the 3-D in 16mm. I explained all I did was move the camera. We had a very small crew on that film. I was the cinematographer, writer and director."

There's something familiar in the singing and landscape, the crafting and harvesting. It's humbling to see the Hopi appreciate the corn in 4 colours, every day. I mean, here in the Western world there's such a choice of food that no day needs to see the same food on our plate, which I'm sure some of us would feel bored and annoyed.
I assume that the corn is so part of all aspects of Hopi culture, incarnated in physical form and works of art, cooking and baking, that it has become a natural devotion and expression of gratitude, eating the corn every day with new and joyful candour.
Living with vast spaces of land around might create a certain sense of presence in these people and also the absence of cars, computers + smart phones defines their awareness of presence.Hopi: Songs of the Fourth World (1983) Reel 1 of 2Old Reel Server2021-11-19 | Reviewer: DevonSeaMoor - favoritefavoritefavoritefavoritefavorite - March 20, 2019 Subject: Corn that never stops appreciation I'm enjoying this documentary very much.
