GHOST TOWN Arcade Rifle Game by Bromley 1991 yaggy9 2019-07-20 | Solid State rifle game based on 60s/70s mechanical games using identical stylus hit system. The artwork inside this machine was highly sun faded and the paper and bullseyes no longer glowed from blacklight. Since the paper could not easily be replaced, I decided to do highlights with fluorescent paints and feel the results improve on the original concept, although the video has trouble displaying this so a lot of the details are hard to see. Sound and music composed and programmed by Brian Schmidt - (BSMT2000 sound chip) with artwork by Kevin O'Connor. The rifle has a significant kickback when fired and sometimes a spark flash can be seen. Best of all, this machine is played all day and night by the general public for fifty cents (25 shots, 50s time limit).

Seeburg Topaz 100-77D Redbox system - (under repair) yaggy9 2017-03-08 | Had just gotten the CSP1 "Red box" functional to where it would correctly play records - also had to clean up and adjust the tormat connection points and the switch block assembly, reversing switches, new cartridge and stylus, and also acquired a functioning PPC-1 supply "Phono Power Center." This and the red box were only used in two models, this and the 1978 Celestia (whose art currently graces the bottom panel so I could install "full" art on the 1979 Da Vinci upstairs).
Taito 1992 Operation Gunbuster Arcade Demo yaggy9 2017-01-07 | A rare and innovative game, this Gunbuster was restored to working condition by way of a series of miracles. Here it is, in all its glory, playing linked "Battle Mode" with two (out of possible four) players. Each of the four players has a mounted gun with two triggers - one for regular gun fire (which is metered in battle mode) and one for your special weapon, each with very different abilities and recharge times. The 8-way joystick moves player in all direction (first player to lock in their character choice in a 2 person team controls team movements), while swinging the gunsight to the far left and right turns them around. Used in conjunction, this makes Gunbuster the first game to provide the fluid movement to achieve "circle strafing." The guns kick when fired via the heavy solenoid and plunger mounted inside. When hit with enemy gunfire, it also shakes back and forth by way of a motor and spinning weight mounted in the base. A colored light on the cabinet's edge also flashes. Similar to the trend established by the recent arcade hit Street Fighter II, the game is set up in a "winner stays, loser pays" scheme and the first player to win two rounds (out of a possible three) is crowned the victor. This team then goes on to continue (or begin) the "story" mode of the game using only their screen and team controls. A battle mode challenge can be brought up at any time and (for better or worse sometimes, in a public arcade setting) cannot be declined. Story mode has "branching" in which each win then puts a choice to the player onto which one of two bounties they want to target next, enabling a mixture of new game challenges on successive plays.

Midway HyperDrive arcade demo yaggy9 2012-08-22 | Single/unlinked sitdown of 1998 Midway Hyperdrive. Marquee lamp is out, but game plays well. The track displayed called for pitch/roll maneuvers at the beginning of the lap which is what the yellow thumb paddles are for. This game seems to have good visuals, a great rhythm about it and impressive sound. Takes a few plays to get acquainted with the handling of the craft, but once mastered it can be very satisfying to manage a sharp corner or dodge an unexpected wall.

I believe it was made in 1990, just after the hospital closed and they had placed all the existing patients. ZERO POINT (1998 Unico) yaggy9 2011-02-27 | Demonstration of arcade game ZERO POINT. This is a "conversion kit" and was installed in a spare empty cabinet. The light guns are the originals supplied by Unico and have a hammer snap effect when the trigger is pulled. The video was edited to three minutes to provide highlights of a typical play. ZERO POINT is a less expensive copy of Namco's POINT BLANK and the similarities in the interface and game selections is extremely obvious.

Taito Under Fire (arcade sample play) yaggy9 2010-06-15 | Brief demonstration for emulation comparison and just to showcase a pretty badass semi-automatic gun game that uses infrared positioning rather than the old optical method which required white screen flashes. Taito's high price tag for this machine caused it to see limited distribution in the USA, since Konami's Lethal Enforcers was coming out as very inexpensive conversion kit -- an installable format that Under Fire's gun tracking method would not accommodate. The game hit streets in America in 1994 and employed the use of the Ensoniq 5505 (OTIS) sound chip, a top piece of hardware, for exclusive use by Taito. Ensoniq was located in Malvern, PA before its sale to Creative Labs, a few years later.

dark ride tour yaggy9 2007-10-04 | UPDATE Novermber 2012: STILLWALK MANOR was destroyed and washed away by Hurricane Sandy this past week. We will miss it sorely. It was part of Casino Pier in Seaside Heights, New Jersey.Info: Walking through an operating dark ride (haunted house) on the new jersey shore, thanks to the kindness of the pier's management and ride operations supervisor. This is all the raw video I could collect while rushing through the building before they opened for the day. The air lines were still being charged and I was cautioned to watch for cars. Extra lighting was turned on, but much of the video was dark. The strobe lights also show up odd (just bright steady light) due to video camera sync.
