I still think people love to gloss over how devastated damon was to be back, how strong his longing for bonnie was, how he felt like he didn't fit into his own life anymore because he needed bonnie more than he needed anyone else. his suffering was largely silent, but it mirrored hers perfectly. they both felt isolated, alone, ripped apart. I've been literally going insane since the ep aired, my entire brain is yelling 24/7 and there's nothing but them and that scene.honestly what the fuuuuuck.to me, the line that actually made them canon was not the I love you, that just further validated it; it was cas admitting "because the one thing I want is something I know I can't have". dean really was IT for him and we all knew that, but having the show acknowledge and textualize it wrecked me tbh. this was a clear love confession and it was about cas finally letting himself feel all the love he has for dean in its purest form.they've always been more than a ship to me, they're the whole reason I started spn and found a show that stayed with me unlike most others. they're the reason - ironically - sam winchester became one of my favourite characters ever, they're the reason - even more ironically - I caught up with the show and found one of my best friends in the process, who hates destiel. nothing about them feels like a coincidence, the impact they've had on me and each other just goes way beyond that.it also wasn't a coincidence that I had an entirely different video planned for after this episode and then out of nowhere, youtube suggested me a song I used to be obsessed with in 2012, back when I first started shipping them. so here we are, I couldn't resist after rediscovering it. I'm proud of the way it looks, I'm proud of the amount of scenes I managed to put in this video and I'm even proud of how I portrayed this relationship, because it means everything to me. meeting, co-parenting and guiding jack brought back sam's trauma in s13 and it forced him to finally face what happened to him years before because he saw so much of himself in jack. he saw his mistakes and his anger and his pain. and when he forgave jack, for the first time I felt like he forgave himself for what he'd done when he lost himself to his power.sam found himself healing through his love for jack and that's why losing him was so devastating.I'm so happy he's back now. and sam's face when he saw him ;___; god. they only have to look at each other and I just start bawling, that's how much I grew attached to them in only two seasons. also THEY FINALLY HUGGED!!!!and I know this comes weeks and weeks after the episode aired, but I had to finish this for myself. and I really had to finish this to surprise elo because obviously, this is for her.elo, I hope you'll like this because making this pretty much destroyed me. emotionally because LOOK AT THEM, but also because it was so freaking hard for me to find all the parallels and voiceovers and to make it fit into this beautiful song. I can't remember the last time I shipped a couple this soft? usually i'm all about the angst, but these two.. man, there's just something there that gets to me.I guess for all the pain sam went through, for always losing the ones he loved (not only but especially romantically) eileen represents his chance of making it work for once. I've seen their potential from the moment they met, all the parallels they drew between them and their revenge, how eileen is sam's perfect fit because while she's a hunter (and a badass, lets be real), she never lost her touch with reality. she always stayed human, and she's a good person (not to mention shoshannah is an amazing actress and I admire her for the work she does!). I adore the way sam lights up around her, and I swear when he brought her back in 15.06 and they held hands something inside me cracked open. I don't know where they're going with this, I have theories, I have wishes, but for now, I just hope they won't kill her off again because neither of them deserves it.this video is veeery sam-centric. I've had the song on repeat in november, right around the time eileen came back, and something about the 'slowly becoming lovers' line made me connect it to saileen. I love the way they are actually build on something, how they had a connection first, how sam genuinely likes her and that's why he's so apprehensive. I don't think he ever planned on having real feelings for someone again, not after everything that happened. but I guess what I wanted to show here is that sam and eileen have the potential to be different. they CAN find happiness in each other if they're willing to open themselves to it. I think sam sees that and that's why he's so torn. so this involuntarily turned in some sort of characters study of him and why I love the way eileen stands out in the sea of people he lost too soon. he lost her, and actually got to bring her back. I've always loved that aspect of their story the most, how they're ultimately at two different fronts fighting for what they believe in, and those things are fundamentally different. and yet, they still find ways to choose each other every single time. at the end of the day, charles means too much to erik, and charles is the only one that truly knows and loves erik for who he is, and that's why they keep coming back to each other.so, elo.
