Please note, the music in this video is not the official game soundtrack, and was edited to appear imbedded within the game's engine. The cuts in the music are meant to reflect the cuts in the video, so this does not showcase the full track I composed.This was my first time composing for a video game. I have always been passionate about video game music, which has so many unique ways of thematic writing that film music just can't do.For this submission, I chose to compose the music for the game "Cat Survivors" by Nieve Studios. This is an insane bullet hell game where you play as a cat, fighting off against waves of demons. The game has really fun and unique power ups that help you progress. The objective is to survive as long as you can. I played the demo on steam to get a feel for the atmosphere and tone, and was immediately hit with inspiration.I wrote the music to be dark, tense, and fast paced. I wanted the high tempo, and 5/4 rhythm to always keep you on your toes. I used various instruments such as the orchestral bell, organ, and male choir to give it that gothic feel. The music is also dynamic, so the music reacts when you hit pause, playing a softer more relaxed version of the music.The demo for "Cat Survivors" is available to play now on Steam.
