But I think Turning Red really captured the weight of expectations, struggling to balance those expectation with other external expectations, and coming to terms with yourself as an individual vs yourself as part of your cultural identify. . I am 100% a white person with no real cultural identity, so these themes may not relate to my life. BUT they relate to many other people who can see their very real struggles being represented on screen. And that' why representation is important and I just want to remind people that even if you aren't specifically being represented in some form of media, YOU CAN STILL ENJOY IT.
