Long Hope Philia || Vent Speedpaint || READ DESC. SophiEpiChristian 2021-02-02 | Hey, Yall! As you've probably guessed from my last video, I haven't been doing too well this past week, because something pretty tragic happened... Many of you already knew that I came down with COVID-19 about a month ago, nobody knows how we got it, but the entire household had gotten it after one of us had brought it home from Lord knows where. It doesn't really matter though, so moving on;So I always knew that my dad had been high risk, because he already had so many health issues to begin with. HE COULD NOT get this virus... BUT unfortunately, things have a way to pass the inevitable, and he had gotten it anyways. He was okay... at first. It had gotten to the point where we had to rush him to the hospital where he'd stay for a few days. On January 23rd, he was scheduled to come home! We couldn't believe it and we were so happy that he'd be finally coming home. So we prepared the house to look all nice for his arrival. But even with how hard I tried to believe he'd come home that day, I still had some kind of doubt in my mind... The day before he was scheduled to come home, something happened at the hospital. He had some kind of episode... he couldn't breathe and they came to find out that he was suffering from blood clots and pneumonia. My mom rushed over to the hospital that night after my dad begged her to. She was planning to stay the night while me and my sisters awaited both my mom and dad's arrival the next day. But things didnt go as we planned it... At about 1am, my dad had another episode... and before she knew it, my mom was rushed out of the room while my dad was brought to critical care. He was without oxygen for 26 minutes, and his body was fighting to be alive. He lost consciousness... Me and my sisters were waiting for them to come home that morning, and we got up after sleeping until about 11am. We were going to pick her and dad up when they were ready, but my mom came home with a family friend instead... at that point I could just smell that something was wrong. They both summoned us to sit at the kitchen table so they could discuss what was going on. That's when we heard something we weren't ready to hear: That dad wouldnt be coming home... at all. The doctors explained to my mom that he was gravely ill, and even if he did regain consciousness, he would only have about 20% brain function... that was so terrifying to even think about at this point, and we had to make the greatest decision I've ever made in my life.... Our entire family knew how much he suffered on the daily basis, even before having been diagnosed with COVID-19. And IF he survived.... he would suffer even more. My grandparents had told us what he had always told them when he thought about his time to pass; that he didn't want to live off of machines the rest of his life. Right there. That was the answer we knew we had to face... So we decided to put him on a DNR, (Do not resuscitate). And later that afternoon, they had given him medication to help his body rest and pass so that the body wouldnt fight back to live. He was without suffering now.... and he DID in fact go home... just not to ours... to his home in Heaven. He was pronounced deceased at 4:05pm, and it was the hardest thing to even believe. Even today, I can't really believe it sometimes... But I did have to make a decision.... to either be sad that he was dead, or to move on with a joyful spirit, and to think about what a happy life he actually had... He always made others smile with his letters that he sent, even changing people's lives with them. And a few days after he passed, our family was mended. It's ONLY God's love that can do this, a love that my father believed in with all of his body, heart, and soul. And that's what I had to do... I had to be happy.... to be happy that he's in a better place, and now I strive to be as life-changing as he was, through Christ. This Speedpaint is my vow to that.
