In this video we look at the reasons this horrifying 8 year war between Iran and Iraq took place.

During the Air Campaign of Operation Desert Storm, the RAF Tornado force had perhaps the most dangerous job. To maraud in at low level to smash the runways and air base facilities of Saddam's Iraqi Air Force. In this video we look at the tactics and weapons used by the RAF to smash Saddam's airfields.

5th April 2003 - Colonel David Perkins’ 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 3rd Infantry Division launches an armoured raid deep into the Iraqi capital of Baghdad. The raid, nicknamed “Thunder Run,” was the first of two attacks which drove behind enemy lines and eventually unhinged the Iraqi defense of their capital. But what exactly is a “thunder run” and how effective is this tactic? In this video, we will discuss the history of Thunder Run tactics in modern warfare, examples where it has worked well, and examples where it failed miserably.

On 25 October 1944, the destroyer escort USS Samuel B. Roberts and the rest of task unit Taffy 3 took part in the Battle off Samar during the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Nicknamed the Sammy B, the destroyer escort, and the rest of the task unit, was massively out-gunned by a much larger powerful Japanese surface fleet, but the Americans still managed to cause significant damage to the enemy force.
By the end of the two and a half hour battle, the Sammy B and three more U.S. Navy ships were sunk, but in the process, they had beaten back the Imperial Japanese Navy’s major offensive against the allied amphibious landings on Leyte. In this video, we will tell the story of the battle off Samar from the perspective of the American sailors aboard USS Samuel B. Roberts, the smallest vessel to take part in the battle.

While his Desert Storm predecessor General Norman Schwarzkopf would return to a hero's welcome, there have been question marks over Franks' leadership of the campaign. However, he did face much overreach from the Pentagon and the White House in his planning and execution of the invasion and transition into occupation. In this video we look at General Tommy Franks - was he simply the wrong general for the wrong war?

What he underestimated was the strength of the Fedayeen Saddam, a militia controlled by Saddam Hussein's son Uday. These were hard fighters who continued to fight to the end, and reaked havoc upon the long coalition supply lines from Kuwait to the tip of the spear of the march on Baghdad.

When the Ground Campaign launched on the 24th February, the Iraqi military's ability to fight had been significantly reduced by targeted strikes against key targets, allowing for a swift 100 hour victory to liberate Kuwait.
The root of this success was in the operational planning. In this video, we look at how the Air War of Desert Storm was designed to win.
