My dad passed away this week, and I’ve been thinking a lot about everything he meant to me and the impact he had on my life.A big part of who I am today and what I do for a living goes back to my dad. He was the one who helped get me started in the stump grinding business. Years ago, he found a used Vermeer 252 stump grinder that had been owned by a rental company for just $2,000. That machine was the beginning of my journey into the stump grinding business.Looking back now, I realize just how much I owe to my dad. Can the Rayco RG50 Handle These South Huntsville Stumps Chriss Stump Grinding 2026-06-27 | Today I was working in South Huntsville grinding several pine stumps after a contractor removed the trees and hauled off all the debris. Once the trees hit the ground, the cleanup operation moved quickly with a combination of a grapple truck, mini skid steer, and the Rayco RG50 stump grinder. The contractor handled hauling away all the tree debris while I focused on grinding the stumps below grade to prepare the area for final cleanup. From tree removal to stump grinding and site cleanup, the entire job took around three hours. Normally, I go 6–8 inches below grade, but in this case they wanted to keep the mess to a minimum. I ended up grinding it about three to four inches down—just enough to allow grass to grow back over the area.
