Anthrocon 2009 - Spy vs Engineertapewolf2009-07-12 | As seen at the Anthrocon Zoo in 2009. Thanks to Sofox for letting me use the soundtrack from his video, mine was almost incomprehensible even with a lot of noise reduction. Must get a better camera...Skyrim: Fahdonmul outtakes and deleted scenestapewolf2024-08-10 | More draconic fun in Skyrim as Vuljotnaak goes hunting cows, Nahagliiv has to pick a side, Fahdonmul's trip to Sovngarde goes awry and Mr. Dragon bounces into a tree. Made with the Play-As-A-Dragon SE mod.DOUG the Eagle: Fahdonmuls Lament (take 1)tapewolf2024-07-22 | It's been a while since I uploaded some music, so here's the dragon Fahdonmul giving his account of the decline of the dragon race, and his regrets. With a bunch of Skyrim footage to illustrate his points, courtesy of the Play-As-A-Dragon mod. Whether Akatosh actually would avenge the massacre of His servants is open to conjecture, but if you're one of the last surviving members of your race, you'd take comfort in that belief, right...?All-Purpose Fox Q/A 2024tapewolf2024-07-14 | This is the 2024 edition of The All-Purpose Fox, an annual comedy improv thing which we try to film at Anthrocon. (Apologies to people wanting more game videos, those will happen eventually).
This was filmed at Anthrocon 2024 and features Sofox, Gabi and Lord Daryil.Confuzzled 2024 on 16mmtapewolf2024-06-14 | More fursuiting antics caught on 16mm film, this time at at Confuzzled 2024. This was shot on an Arriflex 16SR with Kodak 50D film stock, two 100ft daylight spools rather than the full 400ft like last year. Sofox and myself shared camera duties.
Music used was: "Tigers with Beautiful Voices" from my album "Evil Songs for Evil People" which is on bandcamp as Doug the Eagle.Skyrim: Fahdonmuls Destiny (a dragon adventure)tapewolf2024-06-11 | A comedy of Skyrim in which the Dovahkiin is dead, and the dragon Fahdonmul must take their place. Made with the Play-As-A-Dragon SE mod. (It turns out writing and voicing dragon conversations is surprisingly fun.)Skyrim: Flight of the Walrus (Adventures of Fahdonmul)tapewolf2024-04-26 | While generally a nice guy, Fahdonmul is still a dragon and has to get the violent urges out of his system somehow. So here he is wreaking havoc on a bunch of horkers, much to the disgust of the pretty white frost dragon who lives on the island. Made with the Play-As-A-Dragon mod.Skyrim: Saving Private Dragontapewolf2024-04-13 | A Skyrim fever-dream where Mr. Dragon and Fahdonmul escape from the Elder Scroll cutscene and bounce their way across the map without being able to walk or fly. This had to be edited down from a single 3-hour take because it's a cutscene and you can't save. Note that teleporting Mr. Dragon onto your location probably only has this result when the player is also of the dragon race (e.g. via the Play-As-A-Dragon mod) and therefore has the same size and mass. Teleporting him onto a Khajiit probably won't break the physics system in this manner, but I haven't yet tried.Skyrim: Alduins Bad Day (Adventures of Fahdonmul)tapewolf2024-04-04 | Bad craziness in Skyrim as Fahdonmul the dragon bites Alduin the World-Eater on the rear and abducts him, while Mr. Dragon is rescued from the Dragon Wars. Powered by the Play-As-A-Dragon mod. Note that the game really isn't happy about one dragon standing on another, and this causes most of the floating-in-the-air or wobbling uncontrollably glitches. It's also amusing to note that the Three Nordic Heroes keep getting pushed out of the way by my big dragon snout. (Subtitles may be a little off, will try to fix)Skyrim: The Death of Alduin (dragon-to-dragon combat)tapewolf2024-03-28 | Fahdonmul the dragon slays Alduin the world-eater ahead of schedule. This is a Problem. Powered by the Play-As-A-Dragon mod.Fahdonmuls adventures in Skyrimtapewolf2024-02-24 | Still haven't decided what game to do the next series about, so here's a short clip of a dragon living his best life in Skyrim. This was made with the Play-As-A-Dragon mod which has turned the game on its head. The music is a cover of White Magic Stone/Magischer Weisser Stein by Omega and I made it specifically for this video.Do you want to be a dragon? (Take 1) DOUG the Eagletapewolf2023-08-05 | It's been a while since I posted music here, so here's the demo mix for a new song I've been working on. Figured it was an appropriate time to try the Slugbug trick of shiny pants with an old tube video camera.Confuzzled 2023 on 16mmtapewolf2023-06-10 | Various fursuiting antics caught on 16mm film at Confuzzled 2023. This was shot on an Arriflex 16SR with Kodak 200T film stock, my first try shooting 400ft. Sofox and myself shared camera duties. I've been looking at this version as more of a video journal than a highly-edited documentary so I''m releasing it pretty much as-is. Music used was: "Pole Song" from "At Last, The 2019 Album" and "Protogen Revolution" from "Robots and Other People". Both are available on bandcamp from Doug the Eagle.Chocolate Rabbit time-lapsetapewolf2023-04-18 | This was an... unorthodox way to test an Eclair ACL 1.5 cine camera. Put a chocolate rabbit in a frying pan, run the camera at 8fps and see what happens. The slightly caramelised chocolate was delicious, by the way.
Process and scan by on8mil - music and colour grading by me.Powering up a 1990 MFM disc drivetapewolf2022-11-05 | Stamped 9034 I'm assuming this was built in week 34 of the year 1990, which would be about right. This was used for my Dad's first PC build and was a hand-me-down when I built my own. I don't know if it still works as a storage medium because it hasn't been powered up for at least 22 years, I'd have to dig up a PC with an ISA bus, and it's likely Dad has opened it as a prop for one of his "how things work" lectures.Lets Break: Ultima 9 - Ascension (Part 5)tapewolf2022-10-14 | An anti-walkthrough for Ultima Ascension, where we bend the game out of shape and try to complete it by exploiting as many bugs as possible. In this final episode, we reach apotheosis, annoy Blackthorn some more and then look into the history of bridge-building.

In this episode, we slaughter our way to three more sigils and then go off to annoy the Guardian.

In this episode, we make more bridges out of bread, learn the secrets of Justice and cleanse the shrine of Honesty.

In this episode, we make the avatar stupidly rich and cleanse a couple of shrines along the way.

In this episode, we ignore the plot and brute-force our way to Trinsic to get some severely overpowered weapons.

The main camera was an Arriflex SR1, using 50D and 200T film stock. I ended up using 'A Hundred Years' for the soundtrack because it lined up with a lot of the cuts by sheer luck and chance. Camera work is a mix of Sofox and myself.Jakob fursuit on 16mmtapewolf2022-05-13 | Messing around in a new fursuit, shot on 16mm Ektachome with an Arriflex SR1. Jakob Pettersohn costume built by Snow Gryphon Suits, processing and transfer by on8mil. (Hopefully I will be getting back to the gaming stuff soon)DOUG the Eagle - March of the Pantherstapewolf2022-03-19 | A synthesizer-driven instrumental about robotic panthers that I wrote last year. I decided to make a video of it to celebrate "March of Robots 2022". This will hopefully feature on next year's album. Music by me, featuring artwork by Keetah Spacecat and TheKC.SynthOS v3.00tapewolf2022-01-24 | Updated software to display robotic eyes for cosplay. Now user-customisable without having to recompile the whole thing. Note: We do not condone killing your organic brethren. These are not the actions of a respectable Synth.
Source code and documentation is available here: github.com/jpmorris33/syntheyes3 Music is from my forthcoming album, 'Xerian'Daryil and Xerian on 16mmtapewolf2021-10-12 | More Arriflex fun, this time with Daryil. It's the first colour film I've shot of him in decent lighting conditions, though sadly the film ran out while trying to fit Xerian onto the same reel, so I had to fall back on the digital camera used for sound sync. Most of the footage was shot on an Arriflex 16SR with Kodak 50D. Processing and scan by on8milDaryil camera test (Fomapan R100)tapewolf2021-09-10 | More goofing around as a fox incubus while testing out two cameras, a Krasnogorsk K3 which I'd upgraded to Super-16, and a Canon Scoopic. I actually used the same film in both machines, removing it about halfway through the reel and threading it in the other camera - I had no idea if that would actually work properly. The organ music is something I wrote for a web radio series years ago that never ended up being used. Processing and scan done by on8mil.Fallout 3 - Experiments with plasma confinementtapewolf2021-09-06 | Warning: contains flashing images as the game engine drops acid, freaks out and hijacks a busload of penguins. Turns out FO3 doesn't like it if you blow up the player while they're stuck inside an object.Protogen Override Keytapewolf2021-08-16 | After staging a photoshoot involving a Protogen Override Key and a rather unhappy protogen, I figured it would be fun to make it really, actually work.Fallout 3 : At Least It Wasnt Coming For Ustapewolf2021-08-13 | A short clip about breaking the alien abduction machinery in the Mothership Zeta expansion for Fallout 3.Lets Break: Ultima 8 - Pagan (Part 4)tapewolf2021-08-13 | An anti-walkthrough for Pagan, where we bend the game out of shape and try to complete it by exploiting as many bugs as possible. In the final episode, we break into the Ethereal Plane, win the game, and then do a bunch of other strange things including ridding ourselves of Beren the Sorcerer.Lets Break: Ultima 8 - Pagan (Part 3)tapewolf2021-07-09 | An anti-walkthrough for Pagan, where we bend the game out of shape and try to complete it by exploiting as many bugs as possible. In this episode, we cheat at our Sorcery finals, sleep through the big plot reveal and stock up on death spells.All-Purpose Fox Q&A 2021tapewolf2021-07-09 | Every year we do a light-hearted Q&A session, traditionally on the last night of Anthrocon. As with last year, we had to do this as a conference call instead. Even with substantial editing this was still nearly 30 minutes long. Hopefully next year's will be done in-person and a bit less rambling.Xerian and Daryil (16mm test)tapewolf2021-07-09 | Xerian the Synth and Lord Daryil are caught on celluloid. Xerian was built by Raptor's Den with my own custom electronics, and Daryil was built by Made by Mercury.
Xerian was shot on fresh Kodak 50D with an Arriflex SR1 and a Zeiss Vario Sonnar lens, and Daryil was testing a Canon Scoopic with very expired Kodak 200T. The rest of that shoot, including Xerian's first outing, was lost after the Canon didn't like being put into high-speed mode and lost sync with the shutter.All-Purpose Fox 2017 (filmed during Anthrocon)tapewolf2021-06-24 | More improv comedy filmed on the last night of Anthrocon. Music from the Optigan archives.Lets Break: Ultima 8 - Pagan (Part 2)tapewolf2021-06-21 | An anti-walkthrough for Pagan, where we bend the game out of shape and try to complete it by exploiting as many bugs as possible. In this episode, we run rampant on Argentrock Isle and cheat our way through a Sorcery exam.Lets Break: Ultima 8 - Pagan (Part 1)tapewolf2021-06-09 | An anti-walkthrough for Pagan, where we bend the game out of shape and try to complete it by exploiting as many bugs as possible. In this episode, we explode in front of the mountain king and bake some gingerbread men, setting the groundwork for the mayhem that will soon follow.Ultima 8 - The Bug Filestapewolf2021-05-26 | A couple of savegames showing weird things in Ultima VIII: Pagan. I believe "Today I saw something I didn't want to see" was caused by DOSbox running at too high a frequency and confusing the game engine. Either way, it is Stone Cove as you've never seen it before.Synth Eyes on the Raspberry Pi Picotapewolf2021-05-14 | My experiments with a face display for robot cosplay stuff continue. This time I'm using a pair of 32x16 HUB75 panels, driven by a Raspberry Pi Pico which I got two days ago. Porting my Arduino code was pretty trivial, though it'll take more work to make it tidy enough to release. After that I can look at fancier things like blushing expressions and maybe multicoloured sprites if there's a need for it, but since Synths and Protogens generally have monochromatic faces anyway, that's definitely a wishlist item rather than a Minimum Viable Product. Music is from Part 6 of my Xerian album, which I still need to record the bass for. It's a concept album about the kind of creature this display is intended to simulate.Four Chocolate Rabbits (16mm slow-mo experiment)tapewolf2021-05-14 | Last year I crushed three chocolate bunnies with a saucepan, denting it in the process. This year I repeated the experiment, but used a 16mm Beaulieu and some long-expired Kodak to try and capture the event in slow-motion.
Sadly the audio from the digital sync camera was unusable owing to the cine camera screaming loudly as it was pushed to 64fps, so I cobbled together a soundtrack from last year's footage. In addition the easter bunnies didn't put up as much of a fight - I think I used the larger size of rabbit last year with more strength to it.
I may repeat this in December with a different camera when Santa and the Reindeer appear in the supermarket.Time Tunnel - A Musical Journey Through Timetapewolf2021-04-09 | This song is a medley of different styles, from 60s psych through 90s death metal (apologies to Bal Sagoth), up to 2019 when the song was originally written. I also got the crazy idea of filming the video using period-appropriate technology, from super-8 and 16mm film through VHS and vidicon cameras to a modern DSLR. It's taken years of work and lots of money to get this done. Hope you like it!
The song and its parent album can be found here: dougtheeagle.bandcamp.com/album/at-last-the-2019-album16mm Camera Test compilationtapewolf2021-01-23 | I've been experimenting with 16mm film for a music video project and ended up buying a small collection of different cameras. Here are a bunch of successes and failures at filming a dancing wolf robot for the 'Time Tunnel' song.Lets Break: Ultima 5 - Lazarus (part 3)tapewolf2020-11-02 | An anti-walkthough for Ultima 5 - Lazarus, where we complete the game by exploiting as many glitches as possible. In this final episode, we attempt to rescue a very angry King and explore some of the differences between 1.1 and 1.2. Thanks to Ren and Gabi for their very helpful feedback!Lets Break: Ultima 5 - Lazarus (part 2)tapewolf2020-09-05 | An anti-walkthough for Ultima 5 - Lazarus, where we complete the game by exploiting as many glitches as possible. In this episode, we arm the party with stolen death rays and make life a lot more interesting for Lord Blackthorn.Lets Break: Ultima 5 - Lazarus (part 1)tapewolf2020-08-20 | An anti-walkthough for Ultima 5 - Lazarus, where we complete the game by exploiting as many glitches as possible. In this episode, we explore the Avatar's addiction to Food, obtain some spells we're not supposed to have, and discover a novel alternative to using a boat.All-Purpose Fox 2020tapewolf2020-08-19 | Every year since 2013 we've been doing an improv comedy at Anthrocon, based around a Q&A session. This year the plague has derailed Anthrocon so we've done this as a video chat instead. Even after some quite heavy editing this has still clocked in at 23 minutes though that does include a small amount of bonus material at the end.A Short Video About Quaketapewolf2020-07-20 | Fun things to do with it, and why I didn't really like it as much as Doom. Content warning: language and drug references. EDIT: To be fair to Quake, it did introduce jumping. But then, so did Duke3D.Sony HVC2000P test footage (1980s style video clip with outtakes)tapewolf2020-07-07 | A clip from my 'Time Tunnel' song project, this time covering the early 1980s. This was shot on a Sony HVC2000P Trinicon camera, giving it that soft, slightly reassuring texture which CCD cameras just don't have. It was recorded to a VHS deck, albeit an early 2000s model.
Starring a rather poorly TASCAM-32 mastering deck, a BBC Micro with a dead RETURN key, and a ZX Spectrum that didn't even want to boot.Xerian Part 3tapewolf2020-05-17 | EDIT: The full album is now available on Bandcamp here: dougtheeagle.bandcamp.com/album/xerian It's been a while since I posted some music, so here's something from the next album, part 3 of my suite about a marooned robot, with the obligatory footage of the master tapes being played back. Art by Merlin!Three chocolate rabbitstapewolf2020-05-08 | Something entirely random I've been meaning to do for a while. In all seriousness, I'm surprised at just how tough these things are. Sadly the high-speed camera shut off after the first rabbit, but slowing down the raw footage from the main one worked reasonably well too.Scotiacon 1979tapewolf2019-12-03 | Scotiacon 2019, as filmed on Super-8. Party like it's 1979. This has been left basically unedited apart from colour grading, so you can see our failures as well as our triumphs. It was certainly a learning experience and next time we'll know not to try and use 50D on a cloudy day, let alone indoors.
Music: 'Fanfare for the common beast' from my album "Three Little Pigs".
(Bonus footage from Confuzzled 2017)Scotiacon 2019 highlightstapewolf2019-11-21 | Some fun moments from Scotiacon 2019, featuring Daryil, the Irn-Bru tower, Tea Duelling, Erin's storytime, and the Open Mic night (with Rusti Dhole and Flux on guitar). Mostly shot by me (scenes with Daryil were shot by Sofox. Thanks!)
