Is your dog or puppy over-excited outside of pen or crate? In this video, I go over the solution to the problem of a puppy or dog that is thinking to go to sleep and settle in their pen and crate but when is loose in your house, they are not thinking to relax or even lie down. This can be extremely frustrating, because it feels like you have to lock your dog up in order for them to actually get enough sleep. In this video, I will explain how you can start to teach your dog to settle and relax when out of the pen or crate in your house. For extreme cases this means starting in and near the pen and moving on from there, leaving the pen open and reinforcing the puppy or adult dog for going back in to take a nap or relax to having the puppy or adult dog loose choosing to relax around the house. Along with this training, it’s important to also train your puppy. Default behavior is such as not chewing on your furniture or counter surfing. These can be done in training lessons and during the time that you are giving your puppy freedom, you will be watching your puppy 100% of the time and helping them make correct choices by redirecting them if you see Them headed towards doing something you don’t want them to do. You can make a Kissy noise or say pup, pup, pup, and then what you want them to do with their toys that is already out. It’s important to understand that young puppies do play, so don’t be concerned about your dog wanting to play in the house that is perfectly acceptable behavior, it’s just a matter when the puppy never thinks to relax and take naps and is over excited or frantic outside of the pen or crate.
