Hello all,

Thomas The Tank Engine and Friends, the television series based on The Railway Series by Rev Awdry, is 40 years old as of 2024. I have grown to prefer the books which inspired it, but the TV series was what introduced myself and countless others to the world of Sodor and Thomas, Edward, Gordon etc. as a result I'll always hold a soft spot for it.

Thomas, since his introduction to the Railway Series, had quickly become one of its most popular characters, so much so they were being called the 'Thomas books' well before Britt Alcroft ever set her sights on adapting them. When the TV series arose, there was an influx of heritage railways which sought to use Thomas and the other characters for special events to help them raise money. The 'Friends of Thomas' (see what I mean about Thomas being made the 'face' of the brand?) and eventually 'Day Out With Thomas' events, with their handmade, scrappy wooden faces, and the sense of it not being 'quite' brand accurate (at least, when it started) has always been a strange fascination of mine.

One of the very first Thomas stories I ever wrote on a computer was about Thomas helping a Day Out With Thomas replica, sometime in 2015. The idea of actual Thomas meeting one of the many Thomas replicas however has no doubt existed well before then. I'll talk a little more eventually about how different this story was to start with - and when I say different, I mean, different - but what put this story off for so long was that I wasn't happy with the climax, and with the 40th anniversary of the TV show on the horizon, I deemed it necessary to rework the story into something I felt was a better fit for the anniversary.

Hello all! It's been a while - I would ordinarily say life has been hectic, but I'm an adult so that's a given. However, these past few months have been very hectic indeed, what with finishing my apprenticeship and forging ahead toward University (cough - there's that one out of the bag, tehe), so having had more time on my hands lately what better than to dive back into videos with this.

In summary, this story started in August last year, when I realised that I really liked the sort of dynamic Rusty and Fred could share as being the only diesels on the SR. It was then altered to just featuring Rusty, because...well, er..okay, I'll admit, at the time I wasn't patient enough to want to model Fred properly (but that might well change!) It was filmed and I didn't like it, so I put it away for a while and focused on other things. I then decided to dive back into it last month, feeling the desire to do a Skarloey thing again, and retooled the story after a conversation with someone about the plausibility of another Skarloey idea.

I need to work on my verbosity.

Never the less, I am really happy with this story in its current form. Rusty is quite an underrated character, one who is usually away in the shadows of the other engines, but just as capable and just as firey - that was crucial to play with for this story, and I hope you enjoy it.

Hello all!

I wrote this in May of last year, when I really wanted to do a story about Toby's old line. We never see much of it in Toby's book before he's whisked off to Sodor, so it seemed like a fun time period to set a story around. While trying to work out what sort of interesting conflict Toby would have at this point in time, I revisited a video known as 'Mr Bargain's Bargains' from another YouTube creator I often watch. The story in question is about a shopkeeper who becomes tired of pedantry from his customers, and prevents them from engaging with him as a result. The idea of a character solving an issue by putting up signs appealed to me, and this idea formed the core of what you're seeing now.

Alas, the story was then put aside and other projects (not to mention life in general) took precedence. Around the start of January however, I remembered I'd written this, and with my creative buzz having come back as a result of tardisrescue's latest video (as it so often does), I got to work filming it and...well, that's how you're now here reading this.

ALMOST THREE MONTHS LATER AND IT'S TIME FOR A DESCRIPTION WOOHOO

Duck's branchline is probably one of my favourite parts of the Thomas lore. It takes so heavily from the Cambrian line (though Awdry drove to the Talyllyn Railway on his various holidays I'm fairly sure, I don't exactly think it's out of the question that he became so fascinated with the railway you travel on to get there) but is very South Devon and as someone who went on holiday to Salcombe quite a lot of a child, and did so prior to writing this, I really did want to do something with the Arlesburgh squad on account of also really loving Oliver The Western Engine as a child. Then Awdry Extravaganza 3 happened, I gave Oliver a reread the very day the Awdry narrations + illustrations went on display and it's almost like it was meant to be. The original story would have been about Duck having to cope with someone taking a business holiday in the camping coach, but I felt this wasn't 'active' enough.

The Tidmouth Sheds open day was inspired by the Tyseley Loco Works open day earlier this year, which I volunteered for as a ticket collector person thingy. Although no in-fighting happened that day - every working engine was a Castle and by extension was from the same region!!

Hello everyone, it’s not been too long, but it’s certainly been very busy indeed!

The Talyllyn Railway is a wonderful place indeed, and I really wanted to try my hand at another Skarloey story in the run up to Awdry Extravaganza.

Having acquired at least three four or five big Talyllyn books in the previous year alone, inspiration was not too hard to come by - this story was strongly inspired by the practise of passengers being able to hire slate wagons to sail down home in after the last train during the 20s. As a member and volunteer of the railway, I really wanted to do a story which was straight from the heart and something about the railway that personally stuck with me, and slate trucks for hire fit that bill!

My space to do videos is limited, so this was quite nice to play around and maximise my room - I’m very happy with a lot of the shots here and were it not for the fact that it’d be repetitive I’d do Skarloey/Mid Sodor things a lot more often than I do!

Long time no see! (this thing took a lot of cues from Sonic, so might as well go the whole... erm.. 'hog', I suppose.)

I started working on this in January, it took a lot longer than expected due to life + getting a new computer, but alas, it's here at last.

Enterprising Engines was another strong favourite of mine when I was younger and discovering the RWS for the first time. I think it was the fascination with characters such as Bear and 199 who never made it into the TV show, and how different it felt from what the show was providing at the time really. When you've watched Escape from Series 3 and then read how different the story plays out in the book it's quite amusing!

This story was born from a scrapped subplot in Duke's Living Legacy where Oliver, frustrated with Duke being saved and no longer being the newest engine on Sodor, was actively jealous of Duke and hated him, but shared his story of running away from scrap, which prompted Duke to reconsider his own frustrations. It didn't work there, but I thought Oliver's story could be saved for later, as it's always been a fascinating part of Thomas lore in my eyes.

It is probably very obvious that Sonic The Hedgehog - in particular, Sonic Adventure 2 and the recent Sonic Frontiers - has served as an inspiration, from the name of the story to Oliver making it over to Sodor while the heads of the Other Railway proceed to mock Topham and his railway empire. I was playing Frontiers a lot when this video was in production, and that game features an ancient civilisation which was wiped out by an ethereal being and struggled to survive, which I considered somewhat fitting to what happened during the BR steam/railway wipe during the 60s.

I shall see you all again soon for whatever form the next endeavour takes. The possibilities are never ending... (i see it, i see it, and now it's all within my reach!)

Sudrian Adventures: Timing Is Everything

Hello everyone! I began this around late December, but this one was designed to be a quick thing just to start the year off.

This was based on a very funny railway incident where someone, looking to ride a train, asked what the time was they'd hope their train to arrive and was told '8.1', but misheard it as 'ain't one'. Despite not remembering where I read it (I seem to recollect it could have been the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway's magazine, the Cornishman), I remember it vividly and I've longed to incorporate it into a story for ages, so I hope this did the concept justice.

I don't know how many videos will come out this year due to life and other things, but while I would like to make more model videos if I can make them work, I also hopefully want to bring something much different to the channel this year, much bigger than anything I've done before, but you'll hear about this in time.

Overall though, I'm grateful to Bachmann for releasing the Bachmann Edward here when they did, to enable this to be possible in the first place. Now, to do something with Henry.. (it must come from the heart, i wouldn't want to miss the woods for the trees..)

Hi all! I hope you’ve had a very Merry Christmas.

The 1953 Looney Tunes short “Bully For Bugs” was conceived because the producer of Looney Tunes at the time, Eddie Selzer, told its director Chuck Jones that a bullfighting cartoon had no comedic potential. So to prove him wrong, Chuck and his animation unit went and made the short.

You may have read that and thought “Ethan, what relevance does this have to your video?” Well, I said the same thing when Duke’s Waiting Room premiered: that taking Duke out of the Mid Sodor and putting him on the Skarloey had no potential to be interesting. But I enjoy contradicting myself. Or proving myself wrong, however way you look at it, and so what was originally a one off video has now evolved into what I have dubbed ‘The Dukeology’.

I also really like Looney Tunes and I could gush about it anywhere and everywhere but I digress!

I think in large part, I wanted to play into my own thoughts and feelings about Duke leaving his time period and finding a new home. That he wouldn’t have just accepted it instantly, and it would have taken him time to come round to claim his place as a Skarloey engine. It is very Lion King in a sense (another animation allegory, but I got into the film this year, so there’s that).

Overall, i enjoyed doing this, and it was great to draw upon the Skarloey’s connection to the Talyllyn Railway once again. Unless rescaled, a George England could never work on that railway, but I hope this gives you some idea of how otherworldly it would look to see one working there.

Hi all,

This episode had a much shorter and sweeter production process than Duke’s Waiting Room before it, so there isn’t nearly as much to talk about, but this episode came about around September as I was trying to get a Ffarquhar centric story off the ground. It would have been based on something humorous that happened during my holiday at the Talyllyn Railway in July.

It then became something else entirely after the Severn Valley Railway Autumn Gala, and their flagship engine Hagley Hall started up to three lineside fires. It made me want to do a story about it, so it turned into this episode you see here.

I really liked doing a more traditional and classic feeling Thomas story this time around, while still injecting my own style of humour and farce into affairs.

Dear Viewers,

Duke The Lost Engine truly is my favourite of the Railway Series books that the Reverend Awdry wrote in his lifetime. It's funny and heart-warming on the surface, and yet the creation of the Mid Sodor and its' place in the Sodor canon I really appreciate as an older reader. Not only is it a wonderful amalgam of quite a few lovely narrow gauge railways, it acts as a lovely connection to Sodor's own. In the Sodor canon, the Mid Sodor influenced the Culdee Fell Railway, the Arlesdale was built on top of it when it closed, and its' last surviving engines eventually went to work on the Skarloey Railway.

My drive to do a Mid Sodor thing has existed since 2020 - blame Daniel Long - but this was further influenced by Luke Ryan's 'Mid Sodor Mysteries' and seeing the layout and engines in person at the Talyllyn Railway - but it wasn't until July, prior to this year's Awdry Extravaganza, that I finally had a story I really wanted to make happen with these characters.

The point being: how did Duke feel in his shed? Would he have woken up and wondered what else was going on in the world? What effects would this have had on him? I'm not sure if this video really answers any of those properly, but alas, I tried.

Overall, this was a joy to make - and it was nice to do a more dramatic thing, after the comedic antics of those traction engines etc. I didn't think I'd do a Thomas thing again so soon after the last one, but this is one I'm very fond of, and when the idea came around, it took me quite a lot. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Dear viewers...
Those who have known my channel for a really long time (before the days of Boston, Barry or those Museum Pieces of Work) may know that I did Thomas videos rather regularly. My passion was making my own series however, so I gave up doing them - but I felt that it'd be nice to return to the world of Sodor at least once more, as I think Thomas is a very good jumping-on point for making stories and there are people who do a really good job of making awesome (and awe-inspiring) Thomas stories. After all, I was a lot less experienced back then, and I'd like to think I've learnt enough to make one now that doesn't look too bad.

Before this, I was originally going to make one about Thomas, with Duck, BoCo and James - that one fell through as I couldn't get the ending right, but with the Talyllyn Railway's Awdry Extravaganza event which was introduced last year, I was inspired to build up my own collection of 009 Skarloey/Mid Sodor stock, and - okay, i'll be honest there's others which blow mine out of the water - but I was happy enough to have representations of my own. I wanted to make a story with them to show them off - so what better occasion to do one than before the second Awdry Extravaganza, next weekend?

I'll be frank and say that the story isn't one of my best, but that is primarily down to my models being... well, to put it sympathetically, being 'funny'. For a story where Duncan is at the centre, his model doesn't run as well as I'd have wanted!

However, all followings considered, this story was meant as a plug toward the Talyllyn Railway and to tie into their event next weekend, and as a showcase for my narrow gauge models - and on those grounds, I'm happy with it.

Unlike the length of this description - that, I am unhappy with. Good lord, where is my brevity?

Hello everyone! I hope the latter stages of 2021 have been as good as they can be for you.

So, here we are, at the start of 2022, with the final episode of Consider The Following which I decided to bump up from a 20 minute episode (in fairness, they did keep getting longer)... into a 45 minute special/mini movie, hence the title. It's hard to believe I'm finally writing this last description for the series - in fact, for the past few months I had it all prepared, I had it ALL thought out! But alas, the time comes to actually sum up this last affair for the Appi Valley Railway, and I'm a blubbering mess.

At least I'm not the prime minister.

I've explained elsewhere why the series is ending, but it comes down to the fact that I feel that the series has accomplished what I'd really wanted to do when I first came to developing it all those years ago. High school me, with no money, first made CTF with the 'intention' of there being overarching stories, a steam rally, a balance between drama and humour, lord knows what else...

Then, we come to adult me, who in the previous year alone has given Consider The Following an overarching story, a balance between drama and humour, and a steam rally too! Of course, some may disagree - but I began to feel that, once having achieved what I'd really wanted, there wasn't really anywhere else to go. But of course, I couldn't end the series without a 'bang', could I?

I really wanted this special to be a celebration of the previous 5 years of this series as much as possible, and something which tied it all into a neat bow. And, at least for the most part, I think I succeeded in that.

I've really enjoyed making Consider The Following over the years. While sometimes the journey has been bumpy, it's been a treat to watch the characters I'd created grow, develop and make others laugh just as much as they'd made me laugh too. I wouldn't have had it any other way....or dare I say, 'NE' other way. (go on, groan - I know you want to!)

Didcot Railway Centre - 60th Anniversary Gala - 31st July 2021

Two Faced Twit Productions 2021-08-06 | The Didcot Railway Centre recently celebrated its 60th anniversary - and me, not having been in quite a while (and what with lockdown easing and all that), decided to come along with friends Harun Bashir (otherwise known as Merry Hampton Studios) and Lewis Gilbert.

We had a whale of a time seeing the engines up close - I dare say this trip made me realise that Didcot really is a nice place to photograph engines, you can get up close, and there was some really nice stuff here that was too good to not use in a video. I like to do these videos, as it's good exercise for when I edit bigger videos together.

Also - I know it's been a while! Life is hectic, I'm planning the final Consider The Following (yes - the final, but I'll explain about that more at another point), as well as preparing for the anticipated Awdry Weekend at the Talyllyn Railway next weekend. Hello everyone! I hope you've been keeping well and safe these past few months.

It's been a while, as life has taken precedent (starting a new job and the lockdown lifting aren't good combinations for working on a video like this), but here we are again, at the Appi Valley Railway for a new adventure I've had in the works for a month or so.

I really wanted to create something which utilised elements from the previous episodes and essentially bought them together for a whole new thing, while paralleling and playing off of them too. I hope that comes across here.

It was certainly a fun one to do, and almost a year after Jerome was introduced to the Consider The Following universe, I hope this provides a satisfying conclusion for his character.

And who knows, I might just do a spin off with Waldo and Eves at some point. Who's to say I'm not already...*cough cough* 'considering' it?

Severn Valley Railway Spring Steam Up - April 17th 2021

Two Faced Twit Productions 2021-04-27 | With Parker Productions, 84FStudios, RyanTShaw, Guy and B661Sutton, we trekked to the SVR for its first gala event since the lockdown - the Spring Steam Up of April 2021.

We did dearly enjoy ourselves, and as every other station bar Kiddi and Bridgenorth was shut, we just rode on every engine up and down the line a total of 6 times, a very unique experience I've never really had before with the railway. I hope this captures some of the joy we had - and any Didcot volunteers reading this: please don't be too offended by my nickname for Lady Of Legend, haha!

Consider The Following: Only Fools and War Horses

Hello again! Only two weeks since the last episode, I realise. I've been treating you well with CTF this year, don't let it be said otherwise.

After an episode travelling back in time, and an episode taking place at a steam rally, it was nice to come back and do a traditional episode, on the railway, with the main four. I'm very happy with how each main character contributed to the story here, even though Bunker of course is the spotlight.

My absolute favourite thing is the Barry Gray soundtrack, as I think it fits really well and enhances the story. I got into Thunderbirds earlier in the year, and Gerry Anderson shows in general only this month (although this frustratingly missed Anderson Day by just a couple days!), so it was only fitting.

Consider The Following: A Rally In The Valley - DELETED SCENE: Father And Son

This would have come before the rally event started (before the segment with the In The Mood organ music), and I thought it would be a nice little humanising moment.

I didn't think it gelled well with the rest of the episode and messed the pacing up a little bit, but considering that A Rally In The Valley did remarkably well, has now become my first video to reach 100 likes and has helped me reach the 400 subscriber mark (seriously - thank you all! I was not expecting it to be so popular), I thought it'd be a nice treat to mark the occasion/occasions. I don't think I've ever done a 'deleted scene' video for an episode in the past, so this is also a first.

Consider The Following: A Rally In The Valley

Two Faced Twit Productions 2021-04-02 | Boston is invited to attend the very first 'Bridget Horn Steam Rally', which sees him bear witness to traction engine happenings such as can crushes, races, and...duelling with steamrollers, apparently.

Hello once again! It's only been a few weeks this time, I realise.

The idea for this particular one goes way - I'd always wanted to have a steam rally feature at some point in the series. Traction engines are just a very fun novelty and I knew I could get an entertaining story in there somewhere - so I hope this suffices. I wrote a steam rally story way back in the early days of the series which featured Jerome in Boston's place - but I think we need a break from him for the time being, haha.

I did think it was a lovely idea to try and introduce a new 'world' within the series, ie the world of the traction engines, all with Boston by our side. I've grown quite fond of the traction engine characters within this episode, I must say - I'd be happy to have them crop up again in future episodes if so fit!

The next episode is already in production, and I'll endeavour to have it finished as and when I am able. Until then, I hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed making it.

Hello all!

I recognise it's been a while since our last venture to the Appi Valley Railway, and to the world inhabited by those silly engines who live there. So I do dearly apologise that our first trip back there in months does not include any of our familiar friends Boston or Barry - but rather, is set in the Edwardian period of the railway with Jerome, who appeared in the last video.

I won't insult your intelligence by pretending 2020 was anything less of a horrible time for many, and me included. While here is hoping things will look up this year, among my many issues, I missed making Consider The Following. I genuinely felt Grey Hairs would be the end - but I missed the fun of the series, and the frustrations, and I couldn't tap back into the series no matter how hard I tried or what idea I had. So I was really overjoyed when, earlier in the year, I got my mojo back for the series. I guess 'new year new me' can be true after all!

This was such a fun episode, both through the modelling and me finally getting my smoke machine out and using it again for a video. It was a lot of fun to be 'reintroduced' to the series I love making, through this story, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Providing I don't produce another video between now and the 31st, I'd like to say; thanks for tuning into my content this year, whether it has been Consider The Following or my little TUGS model videos I made earlier in the year.

It's been a really rough year for me, as I'm sure it has been for others, but hopefully next year will be a bit brighter. Many good things have happened this year, but...let's be real here; it's been a bit of a downer.

As for videos, I cannot promise anything for next year - as I'm set to be volunteering with Tyseley Loco Works, and I'm part of a project away from TFT Productions which is set to take up a lot of time too, though I've got plans for videos which will hopefully come to fruition soon enough. I know there hasn't been a CTF for a while (since June); I don't want to 'end' the series as I still enjoy making it and I've had ideas for more episodes, but I won't force them out - they will happen when I and others have the time and motivation for them.

Oh my gosh, I'm back again-

Where have I been? Busy - with many other things, some particularly exciting, some not so. Truth be told, I've been feeling a fatigue for making videos for quite some time, as I just haven't had the motivation - but I felt like making a set with my 009 stuff the other day, and thought "it's been a while since I last featured these in a video, and it'd be nice to feature my WIP Duke model in a video, so why not?".

"Why not?" tends to be a good rationale for making things, I find.

I can't promise anything (especially not in these times) but since my 009 stuff tends to be quite popular, I may think about doing a bigger story with them in future. That's if I can get a working chassis, or two!

Working At The Railhead

In what appears to be becoming a bit of a trend on my channel as of late haha, I've made yet another model of a tugs character, Eddie the car float (although I'd be wishing to make another face and name so I could also have him masquerade as Frank). I ended up rebuilding him early on as I wasn't happy with the glue I was using, it was messy and wasn't sticking half the time!

Two Faced Twit Productions 2020-07-13 | Recently, I've been working on yet another TUGS prop - although one I've never seen in person and one with much less of a background; the large scale Ten Cents funnel/hooter prop which was built for Jinxed but despite being filmed was never used in the final episode. The hooter plays a large part in the episode, so I whipped this up out of curiosity as to what could have been...

It's an awfully fun model to have - I have nicknamed him 'Freddie Arseface'. I presume you can probably work out why :P

Nobody tells Big Mickey what to do...

Two Faced Twit Productions 2020-07-09 | Have you heard the new Peter Gabriel song all about a crane? It's called 'Sledgehammer (Head)'...

Anyway, here's a small video showing off my model of Big Mickey the crane, which if you've been following me on Twitter lately, you'll know has been a pet project of mine for a few days. The Big Mickey prop is a personal favourite of mine, due to its' sheer size, scope and backstory - being one of the few TUGS props on Thomas to not only have been rebuilt for the series but make it into CGI too. I was very fortunate to see it in person last August at Butterley as well as its' prototype faces.

My model isn't exactly accurate to the prop used on either TUGS or Thomas, it's been my own freelance interpretation of the character which borrows elements from the prop on both shows. He's probably closer to his Thomas state than his TUGS state due to the fact that there is more reference photography for his time on Thomas - but the wheelhouse, face and base (i'm a poet and i didn't know it :P) are all TUGS. I know the face was never used for the character in the end, but I consider it the 'definitive' face for the character, unlike the CGI face which befits his TUGS voice more than his Thomas one, let's be fair haha.

Out of all of the models I've made, BM is a favourite - I'm very proud of it, and it's not even finished yet, it still needs a grey coat of paint - but it's super fun to pose and play around with. Tricky to film though, as I discovered a few days ago it'd be too big for my sets!

Ever since lockdown has begun, I have put out a grand total of 3 Consider The Following episodes. Mental.

2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the Severn Valley Railway, and had there not been a global pandemic by the name of Corona Of The Virus they'd have put on an event to celebrate. Well, around the time of the last episode, I thought it would be a fun idea to finally incorporate Jerome The Open Topped Pannier Tank into a CTF story, since I'd made the character around the time I started making the series. As the story and production went on I realised that what I had on my hands...

...was an episode that tied into the Severn Valley Railway's 50th anniversary, and in turn spiralled into being a love letter toward the entire series. I think it quite succeeded at that. The Severn Valley Railway has and will always be the biggest inspiration toward the series, 'Appi Valley' and 'Bridget Horn' , '46521' and all that. (Fun fact - did you know Bridget Horn is an anagram of Bridgenorth?)

I would love to extend a huge thanks toward everyone down the years who has made the series possible and supported it, everyone who has voiced acted, looked over the scripts, done art for the series (or even fan art!) and have lent me models or provided a shoulder to cry on when things don't go to plan. Ross, Olivia, George, Jamie, Ben Gosling, Haydn Spencer, Stuart - just among others, you all know who you are!

Hello you fellows!
So, this episode was originally never going to happen. Well, what I mean is that I'd written it and filmed it at the same time at the same time as Shindig and Misty Eyed - but I ended up abandoning it as I wasn't fond of the plot and thought it too dull for CTF.

January 2020 rolls around - I look at the episode again and decide that actually, I was wrong, and it's a good episode all along and it goes back into production.

Then Covid19 happened - good in the sense I had a lot of time to finish it. Then my laptop screwed up - bad in the sense that when I got a new laptop, I had to learn a new editing software. I got through it (just about!) but, whilst it probably won't be too much of an issue to you watching it, I'm convinced I could have done a better job either if I'd done this on my old laptop or if I'd learnt the ways of my current one more. I did try to make up for it with the facial editing - alas - the show must go on, they say.

Perhaps it's just as well an episode about Barry's struggles has just as many behind the scenes! But enough about me - I hope you enjoy the episode, see you soon!

Midland Railway Centre - Star TUGS Trust - Bigg Weekend (24th August 2019)

Two Faced Twit Productions 2020-03-25 | TUGS - The Exhibition (back then, known as the Star TUGS Trust) held its' annual Bigg Weekend in August 2019, and I was lucky enough not just to attend the day event, but also the evening event too! What me and several others saw was terrific, but I can't spill any beans unfortunately.

I am fully aware that this is an old event and that it happened months ago. Initially, I wasn't going to make a video at all of the event. But given that I did just today pass 300 subs (a huge thank you to everyone who has subscribed, I'm genuinely very happy about it and I'm grateful to everyone who has supported the channel), I thought it'd be nice to do something to mark the occasion. That, and with Covid19 keeping us indoors for what appears to be three weeks, I thought it'd be nice to have a look back at a happier time, with steam trains, model tugboats and sunshine (both the weather and the character, I suppose? :P)

It was nice to meet everyone who came along, including several who'd I met for the first time such as LewTheRacoon, Halfbakedhex8 and TK Productions. I've always been adamant that it is the people who make these events, as much as I love seeing the props in person, and given I was unable to make it to the last event that was held for the TUGS Exhibition, I hope to be back for the next Bigg Weekend event.

Consider The Following: Misty Eyed

Hello again! Quite quick with these episodes lately haha. You haven't 'mist' much....(sorry :P)

A Ballastic Affair introduced Crawley, here he is expanded upon. I would like to stress that this episode is somewhat personal to me, as I pretty much wrote it as a reflection of myself at the time. Last summer, I went through a bout of depression - it more or less came out of nowhere, but I'm confident in saying that it is now but a distant memory and I'm fine. When it came to writing the new episodes, I thought it would be good to, well, not necessarily poke fun at it, but rather write a more CTF-version of how someone would overcome it, haha.

Then I went to the Star TUGS' Bigg Weekend event in August (terrific day that was), Big Mickey's model and prototype face were unveiled, and it struck me that I wanted a crane character in the series. My friend 84F Studios had a suitable model, so it was arranged and Ed-Greggory Allan Poe was written into the second draft. Just an Ian McKellen-like old crane who hopes to release a poetry book someday.

It was in editing the episode that I noticed I'd messed up and referred to 'fly shunting' as 'hump shunting'. I'd understand if this puts anyone knowledgable on railways off (hump and fly shunting are similar techniques in any case) although my view on CTF following real railways 100% has always been a case of 'it can, but it's not required to'. I've always written 'supervisors' into the episodes and not 'drivers/firemen' - but alas I will bear the subject of realism within the series in mind for future episodes as I know that it could come across as me wanting my cake and eating it haha.

Thanks very much for reading and watching. I recognise that (as of the time of writing this, March 2020) the world has gone 'down the toilet' thanks to Covid19. Whilst I'm really gutted about this as I had high hopes for most of 2020, remember to follow the guidelines and stay safe. It might last until the latter half of the year (or even into next year as some are saying), but - at the risk of sounding cliche - it will get better.

Consider The Following: Shindig

Two Faced Twit Productions 2020-02-15 | In a bid to 'modernise' the railway, the engines have to share their shed with an unusual new 'friend', who definitely isn't 'modern' at all!

For the longest time, I have wanted to tackle a modernisation type story. After all, just about everyone has at some point or other. How to do it in a 'CTF' way though...?

The answer was Shindig, the telepathic character who - fun fact - was originally going to be a normal GWR Railcar. He still couldn't communicate properly, on account of the fact that the railcar's front doesn't allow for a conventional round/square face. But when I was looking at my models, I decided it'd be funnier and more awkward for the characters if Shindig was a motorized coach'. Being replaced by something that, technically, is inferior to a steam engine felt more true to the tone of Consider The Following :)

That, or my shoe-string-budget senses were working overtime that day. I also apologize for the crude greenscreen effects - it's never been my strongest suit, haha. I'd like to improve for future endeavors though!

The Postman Arrives...

This is another crack at a stop motion animation test -my last one was about 4 years ago! Owing to that, I daresay I've quite a lot to improve upon. Mainly, in lighting and keeping the camera still - because one thing that irritated me with this was the lighting changing and my shots being poor/out of focus. I don't have all the gear, but I'd be interested in your feedback as to how you think this went in case I do decide to try this again sometime.

I've been watching a lot of stop-motion shows like Bob The Builder and Wind In The Willows lately, which have made me realise that I wouldn't mind making a SMA (Stop Motion Animated - abbreviated because i can't say it fully all the time :P) production. I think it'd be really good for me because A) I consider myself rubbish at drawing, and I'd be more so at doing 2D animation and B) Yet despite this, I love the field of animation and I'd love to get into it myself.

Very laborious (most animators get, what, 10 seconds shot per day?) but alas, Rome wasn't built at once. You've got to stick at it. It's like with anything really.

Or maybe, this whole 'Ethan Becomes The Next Cosgrove Hall' thing might just be a craze at the moment. Like Mr Toad himself in that respect. I'll see where I'm at this time next year :)

Consider The Following: A Ballastic Affair

Hello again! And happy new year! Or should that be 'Appi New Year', haha.

I will concede that this episode isn't terrifically action packed. But I think it's necessary for the story it's telling and even then, my next few episodes have a bit more going on in them. Unless you happen to enjoy watching the characters idling around and conversing - different strokes for different folks and all that jazz.

This episode introduces Crawley, an engine who has cropped up in the series before, though never speaking (and with a different face, too) - he's an engine who is the proclaimed 'welsh storyteller' and self-professed 'romantic consultant', whatever that is.

I also give thanks to Halfbakedhex8 who guided me on lamp effects - they're not perfect, but I'd rather they be there and not done perfectly than not there at all :)
