My film takes audiences on an empowering journey through the eyes of a young woman who dreams about a world where everyone is accepted for who they are and celebrated for their differences.
Nirvana plays with duality; while my slam poetry piece serves as a call to action for systemic injustice, the on-screen narrative visually explores what a “perfect” world could and should look like if outdoor spaces were equally accessible and safe for all people, especially those that have been historically discriminated against.
I hope that Nirvana inspires people to continue the momentum of change by doing their part to help create safe spaces, both indoors and outdoors, for marginalized groups such as the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ community.
