We're too close......
updated 7 years ago
Was really hoping to be able to start a zombie hover out of it, but unfortunately, after opening a chest, there's no way to avoid having Link from grabbing the item.
Not sure if this is known yet or not, but just in case I'll post it here.
To use this, you would need to die out of bounds and be revived from a fairy, and upon entering back in bounds, the cutscene that would normally play when dying/reviving gets delayed while out of bounds and will start to proceed when entering back in bounds.
Just a couple of seconds before the cutscene from being revived ends, you would then open a door and it will cancel your animation and you can regain control over link, just like you would do with the dins fire strat.
Opening the door way too early will not work because Link will proceed to opening the door and the glitch will not work.
Idk if this can have that much use to it since it would be hard to find areas where you can die and revive out of bounds to delay the cutscene for it, but I think it might be worth looking into for it, right off the bat, I only know areas with water and crawlspaces can work at the moment, hopefully there are other ways to perform this in other areas and have use from it.
Ganondorf completely stops attacking
You hold the Fishing Rod, but don't actually have it on your B Button
A white lighting starts flickering in the room.
Any effect other effect you make appear (like hit effects when attacking, using dins fire, magic spin attack, etc.) the game crashes
The platforms become invisible.
Kakariko Village music starts playing (which I didn't know the Fishing actors/objects did when spawning them in lol)
I thought this was hilariously funny and interesting, so I thought I'd share it lol.

For anyone in the past who was really looking forward to this being finished, I sincerely apologize for letting you all down, and I've let myself down by investing in a lot of work and letting it go to waste. :'(
I hope to one day maybe revive this and actually stay committed to it and I actually put in the work that I always wanted to accomplish in this, I really don't see it happening. (But I also said I don't see myself uploading again either, so maybe it can be possible in the future? :O)
So here it is, the latest progress of my MQ MST TAS from many years ago that I never got to finish with everything I was dealing with at the time.
Really wanted to upload something on Christmas Day since I don't recall uploading anything on Christmas Day ever, so this a Christmas Gift to you guys, it's not really much, would hope it would've been more than this :'(
Hope you enjoy and hope everyone is having a very Merry Christmas!
This video was deleted about several years ago due to copyright issues, but he never ended up reuploading it, but I had noticed that I had the video downloaded on a really old pc and thought I'd share it so that way it is back up on YouTube.
This is the exact same video as when i downloaded it, did not change any of the music, YouTube even notified me about the music too, but doesn’t effect me since i’m not a partner (would be different if i was).
I don't know if grunz was intended on coming back, or to maybe look into it and making it public again or not, but if he does or he if he's not ok with me uploading here, then I'll happily take this video down.
It only shows my submission (I'm Tyler), Bloobiebla's, and Grunz's submissions in this, I can't remember who all entered, warburner87 was one who entered, and i think the username by Hornlitz may have entered too (if i’m wrong please correct me)
Hope everyone is having a great Merry Christmas!
This video is showing off everything that Dark Link can do similar to what Link can do in The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time.
This is known by a lot of people and in the Ocarina of Time Community, but for those who don't know or not aware, Dark Link was originally copied from Link, so they share a lot of mechanics together, but with a few modifications here and there, this is why a lot of stuff in the video that were done is possible.
Also, whatever age you are, you share that age with Dark Link as well.
Other things I tested but Dark Link couldn't do:
He can't reflect objects with his Shield (including light with the Mirror Shield).
He can't activate rusted switches or remove Fire Temple blocks with the Megaton Hammer, he can destroy Ganondorf's platforms with the Megaton Hammer though.
He can't void out by jumping into a void.
He can't enter loading zones.
I couldn't get him to do the dying animation (the same one that Link does)
He can't activate cutscenes, that includes by walking past a trigger or using an Ocarina to do it.
He can't remove Time Blocks with the Ocarina.
He can't grab Items, except a Golden Skulltula Token (even underwater items while diving).
He can't activate Blue Warps.
He can't do direct attacks on other enemies with a Sword or Sword like item. He can cause certain enemies to die or get stunned using another item, which I showcase at some point in the video.

Been working on a compilation video for weeks of everything Dark Link and Link share mechanically together.
However, Hylian Freddy mentioned that performing the Shield Swipe Method can counter the restricted mode.
The way the Shield Swipe Tech works is you:
1. Hold Z Target
2. Then Hold Shield while still holding Z Target
3. Continue holding Z and R, and whatever Item Link is holding while in the water, whichever button that item is assigned to, you hold that.
4. Release Z and Shield, but do not let go of the Item you are using and it will allow you to use the item.
Any Items that Link can not hold (Din's Fire, Magic Beans, etc.) and any Items that require Magic (Fire Arrows, Lens of Truth etc.) will not work at this current time.

Supposedly there is a specific floor property in the game that allows Link to be able to hover up in the air which is very weird, same floor property that Chamber of Sages has (only specifically to do with the water floor).
As far as I know of, Chamber of Sages is the only area that has this.
In this video, I hacked in the floor property in Lake Hylia, Lake Hylia does NOT actually have this property, it was hacked in.
The Raw Data Value used in both this video and in Chamber of Sages:
0x1C000000000027C4
The "1C" is value in this is what allows Link to do this.
For now this is useless since it's in Chamber of Sages and there isn't really much in here and even if there is, you can't really gain control over Link without cheats in this area, so here it is just in case it can lead something one day (which i doubt lol).
(Edit after Upload): I experimented with it some more, and apparently for some weird reason, you can only do the hover if you're above the water, if you're above the Medallions/Triforce Platforms, you can't hover, I even used the L to Levitate cheat, when i'm on the platforms I can fly as high as I want, but when i'm above the water, Link only gets very little distance off the ground and he can't fall back down unless you sidehop or jumpslash etc.
Only thing that was hacked was putting Dark Link in the Spirit Temple.
I know it's short but I hope you enjoy!
Almost positive it was around the time Smash Remix was introduced and wanted to TAS it, hope you enjoy it!
I wanted to make them both in the same video, but I didn't think of it until I uploaded the last video, so here's this for documentation.
The reason for this working is that in vanilla OoT, both the second and main room have the poe/torch on the obj list for both rooms, for MQ, the second room doesn't have which completely removes the actor once another room has been loaded.
However, you can apply the stun to Gohma by throwing a Deku Nut or using Slingshot to shoot Deku Seeds at Gohma's position before the cutscene starts.
The position of the Deku Nut or Deku Seeds will be paused once the cutscene starts, and once the cutscene ends Gohma will get an immediate stun.
I truly doubt this will be any faster to do for console, if it is worth doing for a TAS, it'd only be worth doing for 100%/Child Max% with the Slingshot method because:
1. For the Deku Nut Method, you have to actually get closer to where Gohma's position usually starts for when the fight actually begins, which you are wasting a lot of time doing to prepare for.
2. Usually for a full game TAS, there is no category where you would actually obtain the Slingshot except for 100%/Child Max% (I think is the only 2), it's a big maybe that it can be used for those categories for a TAS only if it is actually faster.
Timing for both fights starting from when I could gain control over Link, and ending when I had no control over him.
Slingshot Method: 1.12 Seconds
Deku Nut Method: 1.15 Seconds
For some odd reason with the Deku Nut Method, the first frame I tried crouch stabbing, gohma still had the invincibility frames for an additional frame, Idk if there was a way to improve it or not, I don't think it really matters anyways since the Deku Nut method is actually a useless strat anyways.
I might make a video comparison later for TAS timing to check to see if it is actually faster or not.

I was just testing out some gim stuff with this and just suddenly accidently pulled this off lol.
Tried to see what happens if you open the door to darunia's room the same time you loaded another area and apparently it locks the camera in place.
youtube.com/watch?v=7fci4ZSCNCM
But the way I do it in this video is I mash B frame perfectly every other frame (which is 99.99% impossible to do in real time) to delay the text box from the trade item timer preventing the warp from occurring, and doing this while exiting a crawlspace allows you to gain control over link while still mashing B, and once you gain control over link, having a different text box pop up while the expiration text box is still up will end up getting rid of it, preventing the warp from the trade item timer from happening, and freezes the timer.
Posting this on here just in case if anyone else could maybe make ideas from it to somehow make it useful in some way.
Only works if you activate a cutscene without loading another area, and not sure but almost positive the cutscene requires to not have any text boxes in it. And it's TAS-Only because it requires you to spam B every frame (unless someone can find a different method.)
I know I haven't been around in a while, idk if anyone has done this yet or not, but I don't see this being used in a full game run, just thought it was something cool.
But who knows, maybe it might.
Probably my last TAS ever, was lucky I finished this at all, life happens sometimes, whenever I do have any free time, I hardly have any interests in this anymore and I apologize that this channel isn't as active as it used to be, if this is my last video, apologies at how short it is but at least I was able to provide this one to you guys. :)
I'll see if I can't do anymore of these in the future, and if not, then it's been a fun and enjoyable ride :)
Hope you enjoy!
After this, i'll have a few more WIP's to show off, then from there i'll continue the project without showing any public progress
Hope you enjoy!
It's hard to find a cutscene that'd allow you to play as giant link, so far this cutscene and the cutscene where you meet the happy mask salesman so far are the only cutscenes i can find to work.If you load another map, you are no longer in the giant link state.
I will do my best to post more of this, have very little time of working on this, but trying so hard to find the time.
Hope you enjoy!
And Yes, I play on uploading more WIP's of this in the future!

The moment I saw this, I just had to make a TAS of it and get it out quickly, so this TAS isn't completely optimized because it was sorta rushed, a couple of improvements could've been made in this, but not that big of a deal, I was just happy I was able to get this made and uploaded! :D
youtube.com/watch?v=yO7Q-5F4F6E
I got 1st in this task! :D
Pretty fun to do, sadly didn't have much time to do it since i started mine the day before the deadline, so mine was pretty much rushed :/
I feel like everyone did a great a job in this task and congrats to them.
More information about this, you can find it here:
youtube.com/watch?v=yO7Q-5F4F6E
Idk what uses this can have since you appear a bit too low, so Idk.
I enjoyed this task, I liked TASing this it was pretty fun, and I got 2nd place ^_^, i'd also like to congratulate everyone else that entered
Tried uploading this a few days ago, but didn't have the time
Compilation Video:
youtube.com/watch?v=qpUVopiZ3P0&t=0s
This TAS is for a TAS Competition posted by Eumeus14:
http://www.speedrun.com/mm/thread/5ywn9
I'm uploading my submission to help Eumeus get a little more views for this in case if there is anyone out there who doesn't know about this yet, and because I don't have much MM Videos on my youtube, so i thought i'd upload it anyways :P
You can get the link to the compilation video here:
youtube.com/watch?v=NfrCGziJ4h0&t=3s
MrGrunz has also uploaded it to his channel as well:
youtube.com/watch?v=MrRAYtxRD_I
I'd also like to congratulate everyone who entered and looking forward to the next task!
Still trying to make No Doors Possible, only thing we need to do now is to do this without isg/hover since we wouldn't have hammer to equip to c and fw is restricted outside of dungeons and with it being on B prevents us to using Sword, just uploading this to see if this can give anybody any ideas
I'm sure maybe in some ways, it can be done without cheats, idk, if so, it seems like it can work with other cutscenes as well, i still hardly know anything about this glitch lol
Basically if you release the longshot and hold z at the same time, it unloads the boulder, which is how this trick works.
Only the Longshot can reach it, the Hookshot can't sadly, if the hookshot could reach it, then it'd probably be useful =(
Might be faster than doing it with the hookshot method if there could be a consistent enough setup for it, but idk though, I would say it could be faster for a TAS though
