These aren’t my favorite videos to make, but there’s more concerning news for consumer and hobbyist drone pilots. In this update I cover:
Ongoing impacts from the Uyghur Forced Labor Protection Act on DJI and other Chinese drones
Problems getting new drones, parts, and warranty/repair service into the US
FCC “covered list” issues and potential revocation of certifications for drones with lidar (and other technologies)
The brand-new 25% ad valorem tariffs announced by the White House on certain drones. (100% on larger ones 25 kg / ~55 lbs and up)
Why this is particularly discouraging for everyday enthusiasts who just fly for fun
I also talk about the current public comment period (closes September 2) and encourage civil, thoughtful comments.
