The 2022 edition of the ‘Break the Ceiling, Touch the Sky’ summit was a celebration of success stories associated with Diversity & Inclusion. In his insightful session as the keynote speaker of the summit, HCCB Chairman and CEO Neeraj Garg discussed various HCCB initiatives that were implemented in the last two years to transform the employee experience and promote gender inclusion and parity. One of such initiatives that received a lot of appreciation was extending our talent pool to the LGBTQ+ community. While talking about it, Neeraj also stressed the need to make office space gender-neutral and train employees to curb bias. He also elaborated on how our Sanand factory, which has 40% women employees, bridged the gender gap through digitisation. To further develop a sense of belonging in women employees, we have also provided the Work from Anywhere option, in addition to formulating travel policies that allow nursing mothers to travel with their children. Expanding on other initiatives to empower women, he also explained how the CDCs and smart classrooms in model villages are playing a huge role in skilling youngsters, especially young women, to be job-ready.
HCCB didn’t let the pandemic affect the salary or annual merit increases of the employees during the 2020-2021 period. To make work less stressful, we leveraged AI to engage with employees and help them get services such as immediate medical help during the lockdown phases. Neeraj also covered the community initiatives that were undertaken during the last two years, which include importing medical equipment, setting up oxygen plants and converting our Plachimada plant into a COVID Care Centre.
