I translated my own English version of My Everything because I love this song so much, and I wanted to convey it in a language that’s comfortable for me. As a songwriter, it was an exercise for me to capture the heart of the song without translating it exactly. Since I cannot speak Korean, I had to find my own meaning from the English translations I found online. This song was written so masterfully - the vocal melodies truly take you to special places. I know the original composer speaks fluent English (NIve / Park Jisoo) and I translated his work in my appreciation for his craft. If I ever get the chance to converse with him, I would love to hear his own English take for My Everything. Someday, I’d really love to write something like this for SM Entertainment.
