It was also a really interesting experience because I've never done collabs like this before. Composing a piece with someone else's ideas is a very unique experience. Because they're not your own, you have different materials to work with that have their own colours. So, as a result, your finished product ends up pretty different than your others. And it's really fascinating because the colours you see might not be the colours others see in a musical idea. So we tend to bring out those different nuances and in the end have different pieces in mind.
So the plan was to finish MusicalBasics' composition with the image he had in mind. This image is about being lost in a cave, completely alone, with no one around for thousands of miles. When I was listening to the midi file he sent me, I felt a sense of momentum and built on it.
To me, this momentum felt like someone who is desperately trying to find at least anyone. So everything I wrote centred around that emotion of searching and searching where it doesn't matter who that somebody is. That somebody is all you've got.

Originally, this was supposed to go up almost two weeks ago. Unfortunately, that goal aged very well as I ended up injuring my hand for a week, haha. So, when my hands healed, they became like noodles and then I had to re-practice all my parts for the week.
The end product I am almost satisfied with. The melody is just dying at the end yet again, maybe worse than last time. I found ways to balance it out better, but it wasn’t enough. Fortunately, well at least for next time, I found a little clue of what I could do to fix this problem.
Anyway, I hope I substituted the growl well with the piano smashing. So many things happened within the past few months so I apologize for the lack of content and that I haven’t made my Q/A video yet. Currently, my university is on strike, so I’ll have more time to work on videos, at least for now. I’ll probably post a video announcement for the Q/A so that more people can see it so I can get more questions in for the video.
Anyway, Attack on Titan is finally back, and I couldn’t be more hyped about it. Seeing the OP hit #2 in trending was so surreal to me, like I genuinely could not believe what I was seeing. Seeing something Anime related trending this much is something I have never seen before, and I’m living all for it. With it being immensely popular, for the next few months, I’ve decided that I’ll be doing more AOT arrangements of my own so I can get some of the stonks, hopefully.
For this particular arrangement, I was mainly just experimenting, mostly because I have never written anything for 3 pianos before. The biggest difficulty I found was mostly just balance. In the second half of the video, the melody is just dying. Like I’m playing full strength but there’s just so much noise going on that it’s almost drowning it out. I half fixed the problem with panning but in the end, headphone users only get the benefit. A piece like this might’ve been suited more with a 4 piano arrangement so I could double the melody, especially because I actually wasn’t able to capture some of the details Sawano put in his original track. But of course, there are some downsides, such as the sheer amount of decibels from how loud 4 pianos can be. 3 pianos were loud enough.
Well anyway, I think this wasn’t bad for a first try, and I’m still very happy how it turned out other than that. I’m always interested in hearing your thoughts, so please leave a comment down below.

Covers will resume after that big upload.
Everyday World I think is one of the most underrated OSTs that I have heard. I would've thought that Animenz's performance would reach at least more than 2 million. Like, I prefer it over Kirameki and Kirameki is already one of my favorite OSTs. But now that I think about it, I can sort of see why it isn't as popular, but I can't put my finger on it. I guess it has to do with the sort of musical flavor of the melodies themselves as it sounds very Filipino for me haha. That's not to say that Filipino music is bad, but rather, it just doesn't seem to speak as much to the larger audience.
For this performance, I decided to add some extra rubato for more expression. I also decided to make the fast section a tad bit slower for more rubato to make the climax grander and even more expressive. Other than that, I have made no other major personal changes.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it, and thanks for watching :)Tokyo Ghoul Ost - Glassy Sky (Theishter Arr.)Rron Delos Santos2021-10-04 | This piece was sort of a test piece of some new practice methods and things to keep in mind that I've been developing for myself. Been trying to get effective with my practice and I've definitely gotten better. All in all, it led to me needing only two takes, thank goodness, although it wouldn't be so bad to take more takes, because, with this piece, this was the first time I was genuinely having a blast recording. I would either dread recording day or just think it was a thing to be done, but I was really happy making music this time. I was thinking that it was mostly because, obviously, Glassy Sky is just an amazing piece of music and Theishter gives it a really interesting take, but just how well prepared I was this time vs previous times really made me concentrate on the music and not on the fact that I was recording. One thing I learned, if you prepared the piece very well - and I mean very well - and you make a mistake in your recording, don't stop, record to the end. Even if you - for some reason - are making mistakes at parts that were never causing trouble before, keep playing as if it never happened, just record as many full takes as you need. When I would stop, it would just ruin the flow that I had. It would ironically take longer than it would've if I just kept going and doing another take. Most importantly, I noticed that if I stayed in this flow, the mistakes would get fewer and fewer with each new take. Man, I really might make a video about my journey in the future because it just really helped me improve and really enjoy music, and I would like to share that with all of you guys. In the end, I'm happy with what I was able to come up with this time. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Thanks for watching :DYour Lie In April Ost - Kirameki (Theishter Arr.)Rron Delos Santos2021-09-14 | Nothing much to say. It’s just a great piece. I didn’t get bored learning this song unlike my usual pieces. I think what made me look forward to practicing this piece was just how uplifting it was for the most part. I was fine and maybe even a little excited to take the time perfecting or least attempting to perfect the piece. For people with longer fingers, it would probably be a breeze to play as the only problem I had was just the sheer amount of jumps in repeating arpeggios. In the end, definitely happy with the result. Probably another favourite ost from YLIA. But then again, that soundtrack just had too many bangers to count. I’ll probably do more YLIA covers in the future then.

I’ve been finding the most ideal angles, lighting, and background for the best quality. For now, this is the best I can do but it can definitely be improved.
I’ll probably be doing some more experimentation especially with lenses as I do want to get a 24 mm lens so that I don’t have to mess with distortion consistency and what not.
In addition to this, I’ve been recording the last portions of the fourth part of “A Character Portrait” as I finished the ending quite recently. Been having a very busy schedule but I’ll try to get this down as soon as I can.
I said I’ll be making a long description for the full “A Character Portrait” video but instead, I’ll be doing a Q/A that allows the opportunity for me to answer questions about the piece that matter most to people in combination to answering questions unrelated.

First off I'm grateful that the people at ConcertCreater AI let me use their program. So far the hand movements look more or less accurate with a big emphasis on fluidity. The hand models look really good and honestly even if they don't look too realistic, it doesn't make much of a difference. The only complaint I'd probably have is just changing the set fingerings. The fact being that I recorded with both hands together causes the problem that the AI doesn't distinguish accurately (sometimes) what the correct fingerings are. Some fingerings end up looking very cursed with the right-hand fingers playing the left-hand notes and vice-versa. To be fair, it is impossible for any accuracy because there isn't a set of hard rules on what determines the correct fingerings for a certain piece anyway so it's mostly a problem on my part. In the end, it's no big deal because, for the most part, I'll be playing my pieces anyway. But if I were to correct all the fingerings, maybe having the shift button to select multiple notes/fingers at once and having a different layout could help speed up the process because I was going to correct everything but it would've taken too long.
The composition (The New Dawn) that is played in this video is going to have its own performance by me with certain revisions while keeping the general length the same. I hope you enjoy it. :)

There was just a two week heatwave that really messed with my head. Other than that, I decided to add new sections because there was always something missing. When you'd listen to it, there comes a certain point where you'd feel that something was skipped. It would feel pretty rushed and with that, the 4th part that is completely different from the others would feel pretty forced. But after implementing those missing sections, the themes felt very well grounded, certain climaxes just felt earned and the 4th part just made sense. In the end, I'm happy that I took a break because I couldn't have thought of any better ideas to solve certain major textural and dynamic issues I had with this part. There are still some minor issues that are pretty difficult to solve but honestly, I've learnt to just not mind them that much.

Sheet Music: rronie.gumroad.com/l/zitqqoA New DayRron Delos Santos2021-06-21 | I and a few other composers have been hired by Secret Studios to make music for their anime inspired series Diamond Blade which is pretty cool. I haven't been paid to make music before so this is pretty exciting for me for obvious reasons but in terms of the future of this channel, it will grant me opportunities to upgrade my production gear thus making better videos. What I think is also as important to me is the inspiration that comes from the animations to have that constant fuel of music to produce. That way, it isn't story for the sake of music but music for the sake of story.
This specific composition isn't so much focused on the time and place in which the story takes place. A lot of it is more so focused around people and a light feeling of peace. The story as a whole is supposed to be in a medieval fantasy setting but it would be extremely jarring to hear medieval music in scenes more focused on more carefree/peaceful interactions. It would break the focus on those interactions if the medieval setting in the scene isn't supposed to be a part of it's main focus. So I feel that mellow pieces like these are necessary.
I named this piece "A New Day" because it just sounded very optimistic. It sounded very jumpy and it was definitely inspired by some anime music I've listened to before. Although I have a few gripes near the ending of it sounding too sentimental, I like the optimism especially because it's a stark contrast of the music I've recently been posting and the ones I will post.
Because I've made this far before seeing the animation, I will use this piece more so as a source to pull melodies from to score to picture. There will be some scenes that require some cuts or maybe some additions of other themes. I have already started brainstorming and composing 4 pieces I will make and in due time, I will post them here.

Sheet music coming soon:A Character Portrait Part 2Rron Delos Santos2021-06-14 | Today, I was actually going to post a new composition of mine that I just finished. But for this week, I really wanted to post the second part of "A Character Portrait" because for one, the first part had no new material that I hadn't posted. The first two minutes were already posted in the sneak peak and the rest through the piano suite prelude. So yeah, I thought that would make up for it and anyway a new composition is coming next week.
For this part, I feel a regret for not putting in more elaboration. I feel that some sections should have been prolonged because it felt a bit fast paced. But in the end, I’m not too bummed about it especially because the weak sections aren't the most important and the most important portions are fine the way they are.
Also, I feel strangely excited for this part. Personally, I almost love all the parts equally and actually, I might even like part 4 the most. I guess I’m most excited because again, it does have some of my favorite sections in the entire piece and I think most people would feel the same.

It's been way overdue for you guys and I feel that maybe with the help of your comments and feelings towards each part, I will be able to explore in further detail exactly what should be written. Rest assured, it is nearing completion.
I will keep my own perspective a secret for every part released because I'm very interested to see how you guys will interpret each part. It will be very eye opening to see how certain sections relate to your lives or what kind of emotions or images emerge. I will upload the full version of the piece and there I will reveal my perspective.
When I think about it, this piece isn't exactly the easiest to digest. All four parts together may very well be 40 minutes or longer and there are no direct repetitions. With each part being released separately, I guess we have the time to think about, reflect and revisit sections of the piece. That might be very well needed as the fourth part is the longest and the most evolved out of them. In addition to that, having people's grounded perspectives change after each part will definitely add to the experience.

To me it's like comfort food. You consume it without having much intellectual thought. You just enjoy it for what it is because you know it's good and you've known that for a very long time.
My roots interestingly enough do not stem from classical music. They stem from new age and/or contempory music such as the osts I've already posted. I've always just enjoyed sentimental music and I feel like I've never not known it.
In this way, when I'm lucky, my brain just shuts off where I no longer listen to the piece of music as something to be analyzed but just as something to be enjoyed. The tendency for composers (at least from my experience) is that we diassociate our life experiences emotionally from the music itself. The music we make tends to seem colourless and at times almost meaningless. The music ceases to "speak" to us.
This emotional dissassociation can even manifest into listening to other people's music so that almost everything else you listen to is colourless and does not connect to any of the emotions from your experiences. They can even manifest outside of music but that's a topic for a video essay.
Before I get too carried away, I guess I would like to conclude that the emotionally attached way I've listened to music before can be achieved through music that I've listened in that fashion since forever. In this way, I can get used to listening to music in a non analytical way when I just want to enjoy it.
I hope you enjoy this video. Thanks for watching :)A Character Portrait Pt. 4 (Sneak Peak)Rron Delos Santos2021-04-17 | At first, I wasn't too sure what to talk about regarding the fourth part. I was thinking for a bit and I realized the effect of a piece's climax and resolution.
Part four is the last part of the entire piece which holds the climax and the resolution. The climax and resolution basically defines how people are going to view the piece and certain sections and ultimately how they feel about them. People's perspectives change as they are presented new ideas from the piece and what people perceive the piece to be affects the way they feel about it and it's respective passages.
So let's say that the piece is a story and there's a certain section that you find particularly happy the first time you listen to it. Then after listening to the entire piece, it suddenly becomes a very tragic moment. If the ending of the piece is tragic, the happy moment of the piece suddenly becomes a moment that the character of the story no longer has access to. So the second time you listen to it, I guess you could say that there's an impending doom you feel for the character. In essence, the person feels one emotion the first time and another the second time layered with the first. It is both a happy moment but ultimately a tragic one in the context of the entire piece. So I realized that if I did share info about the fourth part, it would get rid of that layer of emotion.

I had taken a completely different approach coming up with specific sections. For the most part, it was more formulaic and less spontaneous. I hated it for that reason because it felt synthetic. It felt like manufactured goods that just came out of the factory. Though, after thinking about the piece for a bit, the parts that didn't just come out of my head but were a result of thinking and twisting of ideas came out just the way I needed them to be. The feeling of it being synthetic was merely an illusion caused by my perception affected by the context in which the music was produced. I thought, "I didn't just hear the melodies into existence so it must not be authentic." I have several other reasons now why I just don't mind it anymore but for the most part, if it works the way you wanted it to, then there's nothing wrong with it. The authenticity can also rely on how the material is used and contextualized in the piece. In some cases, it doesn't matter if the melody itself came from what you heard in your head or if you handmade them from motifs. In the end, you will be using your musical instincts to twist and turn these melodies and evolve their moods from there. That's a form of authenticity as well. So I definitely learnt a lot making part 3 that especially helped with the reshaping of part 2 and the writing of part 4. It's been an integral part of not just the piece itself but the way I've looked and interacted with music in general. So I hope you enjoy it.

I finally found a way to play as if I'm not being recorded. When I'm not recording, I can play even the hard parts with minimal difficulty. But when I am recording, monkey brain switches over and even the easiest parts of the piece are harder than the hardest parts of the piece when I'm not being recorded. In other words, the easier parts when I'm put under immense pressure are harder than the hardest parts when I'm stress free.
But this time because I abstractly knew how to fix that monkey brain problem, I was able to do 3 takes this time. Compared to recording part one, this was such a breeze. I was able to do the first take the first try WITHOUT warmup. Whereas when I was recording part one, I warmed up for at least 30 mins with the piece and attempted to recorded it 5 times before getting the first full take. So yeah, glad I sorted that problem where my brain just decides to die when I'm recording haha.
Now to the music itself. This section is probably the most hope filled music I've ever made, emphasizing on that feeling of being validated with confidence. And near the end of the sneak peak, it transitions from there.

Thanks for watching :)Hi Score Girl Opening - New Stranger (Ost Version)Rron Delos Santos2021-02-18 | This is for sure one of my favourite anime OP ost arrangements. It perfectly captures the loneliness the two main characters experience from being constantly separated from each other and in some occasions for very long periods of time.
The first section focuses on that feeling of being empty and yearning. Then, the second section comes in and it focuses on the reminiscing of all the fun and happy times. Lastly, it ends in the first atmosphere of isolation with the new knowledge that the happy moments in the second section of the song are what are being missed.
As per the anime itself, is really one of the most underrated ones I've seen. It's understandable why many people have either dropped it or just haven't tried it. It is cgi animated so it does take a getting used to. I actually dropped it the first time I watched it for that reason and boy, I wish I hadn't done that. It was at the time where I still got emotional over a tv show so yeah, that was a waste of enjoyment right there. Also, I ended up liking what they did with the cgi animation. Not sure what it was but something about it felt very real so it was immersive for even someone like me.

I've known his music all my life, even before I started singing or playing the piano. My dad would play his music during car rides and that was my jam. I would un-ironically listen to them as a seven year old in my free time despite not having any emotional connections towards them. But as a result of just listening to them, they have influenced my music quite a bit. My music is very melodic and the center harmonic choices I subconsciously make are at their root very similar. So, many of my pieces wouldn't have existed if I had not been exposed to this style of music, especially Winter Fantasy. As of right now, I have a very deep emotional connection to his music and it's almost as if I emotionally understand each note on the score. His style has been just a foundation on which most of my music is built on. So I'm especially grateful. Melodies would otherwise not come naturally and I'd just have a hard time trying to write a melody in the first place. But thanks to this life long exposure, I've been able to really rely on my musical instincts more than my head.
Also, because of this emotional connection, when I practiced this piece, it felt like a bit of myself came back to me. It felt like I was a child again and every mundane thing had meaning. The feeling I get from this particular song as that it feels like a regular day but my days are regularly colourful all the way through. It's where there's no such thing as feeling nothing. I missed that feeling where even the most ordinary things filled my life with such colour. I hardly ever get that feeling anymore to the point that I forgot this part of me existed.
So I really hope you guys enjoy it as it's a piece that I'm close to.

I've been getting busy with many things. School and work are getting pretty busy. With school, I'm especially getting used to the new quarter system. But mainly, I've been focusing on a special for this channel. It will be a piece much longer than the others. (30mins-ish). So you can expect many different moods. It will also be a piece depicting a character. Now with a character piece, the specific reason why I've been especially busy with this project is this; my lack of empathy (at the moment). Because of Covid, I rarely get to meet other people face to face as I take online school. So it's especially difficult to empathize. I've forgotten what's it like to have real-life friendships. So this leads to my inability to compose with the moods that I want. So I've been doing a lot of trial and error and a lot of thinking. I've recently come up with something with this method but it's been painstakingly taking a long time. When I did empathize, I would just hear the right ideas in my head. But now, what I do hear are all the wrong ideas. Empathy is almost everything when coming up with these specific ideas. But to end on a bright note, I'm almost finished and I hope to post it in a couple of weeks or so. Also, yesterday I got my new keyboard LEDs working so the next video, in general, will look a lot better.

Its been quite sometime before my last upload and I'm sorry for the wait. A reason being is of course school but in addition to that, there was just a big learning curve in terms of editing. You have to learn not only of all the features you're going to use, but you also have to learn about all the quirks and bugs. Just to visualize, I spent 20+ hours this week because of all of those learning curves and bugs. I had to reset many times with certain effects and I had to go back to square one twice. Anyways with practice, the process gets faster and for all of those weird bugs, you get to find a way to beat around the bush. Last time with square one, all of the essential effects that I spent so much time with earlier were finished under 2 hours. The rest of my time was spent on artist effects. This time around I added some new transitions, some shading (vignettes), I was finally able to find a way to stabilize the camera footage and I warped the keyboard to be completely aligned to the falling notes. So that gets rid of most of my problems.
Well, anyways the piece here is again one of those legendary Your Lie In April tracks. Yep, there isn't really much to add on to them being some of the greatest anime OSTS of all time. I think this was the first piece that stood out to me a few years back. It was the most touching piece of music I heard at the time and honestly, I still can't really put the feelings I get from this piece into words.

This time around is another cover of a song from Your Lie In April with 60 fps this time as it should be. Honestly, the music from YLIA is really high tier. I might not agree on how they used some pieces in certain scenes but really by themselves, I enjoy them as much as I enjoy the music I usually listen to. Yes, a lot of their pieces are that great. I hope my piano playing did this piece justice. And yes this is the OG Theishter version as well. Also, no need to worry if whether or not I'm uploading any new compositions. I'm working on a big project (20-30mins) as a special that I've been working on for a while now. It is in fact my favourite composition that I've written to date. First off YLIA is where I first found out about Chopin Ballade No. 1, one of my favourite pieces of all time. Not only that, but they've also got some of the greatest anime ost songs I've ever listened to. Orange is one of them. Of course, I'm using the og Theishter version but with my own little modifications Anyways, Stravinsky is coming out pretty late and I'm probs going to rerecord some of my pieces with this layout in the meantime. Also after Stravinsky, I'll be featuring somebody's piece here. Well anyways, hope you guys enjoy the new layout and please comment down below if there are any improvements you'd like to be made.

This is my new revised version of Winter Fantasy. The first main difference you will see that it is almost 2 minutes longer. In this version, I repeated the first section after the second section. Before, I was hesitant to implement this repetition because I was afraid it would destroy the image I had in mind. Back in the old video, I was talking about how we don't understand certain things we write. Though I had an image, it was very vague to me. But now that I have a very clear picture of what I had in mind, I decided to put the recapitulation into this version. It enhanced the still portrait I had in mind bringing out new depths and new flavours. I also prolongated the denouement of the piece adding new themes and this also had the same effect. In general, it is a good improvement. Second difference is the performance itself. Mainly, the first version sounded too tame. The dynamic range I had was very minimal because I was too weak lol. But now, important and climactic passages are grander/louder as intended. So yeah, the music in general should shine better now. I hope to link the new revision sheet music next week as well as uploading some Stravinsky.

First off is simply just poor technique. at the time I recorded Fantasy No. 2, this intermediate piece was already very challenging and even more so the Fantasy No.1. Now it has become comfortable for me to play. The second reason is that I wasn't satisfied with it. There's a certain cheesiness that I hear whenever I listen/play it and for a couple of months, I've been meaning to revise it. But even right now, I haven't thought of any good ideas to replace the main problems. Although, maybe it is a good thing that I can't think of any ideas. It keeps the integrity of the compositional identity of each composition I make. Also sorry for the shaky camera, it was a hot day so I surrounded myself with a lot of fans and so yeah. The shaking was caused by the wind and I only realized this as I was editing.

Sheetmusic: gum.co/uHPMrChopin Ballade No.4 Op. 52Rron Delos Santos2020-07-24 | This is probably the hardest piece of music I've ever played but not in the way you think it would be. My experience with Chopin's Ballade No.1 and No.4 is that though No.1 is more technically challenging, No.4 is more musically challenging. It is more nuanced than the first. It sort of hits you indirectly compared to most pieces of music. There are some moods I just don't get and I sort of just did what I thought sounded musical. At the 6:10 mark, before this playful section is an uneasy and anxious passage. These are two unlikely passages to be put one after another but they don't sound at all out of place. I just don't get how I'm supposed to feel. I'll probably make a reupload of this piece hopefully in the near future when I've hopefully got enough life experiences that help me interpret what Chopin is really trying to say here. Nevertheless, it was still fun to play.

This piece of music was made when I was at a high of inspiration. For some reason, ideas came left and right and I couldn't stop writing a new idea. I wrote this fairly quick in under two days which is absolutely crazy compared to almost everything else I've written. Everything else was written for the most part from the most uninspired mind I have ever had. Many pieces took months to make because of that. Ideas would take weeks to come. Unfortunately for the continuation of this piece, I had almost written everything yet at the moment, I'm at the lowest peak of inspiration for the specific themes presented here. But for sure, I will finish it. The only question is when i will have the inspiration.

Usually I would either just come up with ideas with no reference to any other form of art but just emotion or I would do the opposite. The opposite usually taking inspiration from certain shows or anime I've recently watched that made me feel a particular set of emotions. But for a particular section of this piece, I only took a minimal amount of inspiration from some shows with similar themes. I mainly took inspiration from what was going on outside my window. Usually people say composers write how they feel, but in this instance that was far from the truth. I looked outside and I saw it was snowing and was so bright outside that if I were to walk outside, I would have to close my eyes for the first 10 seconds for my pupils to adjust. It was just these two qualities and the fluffiness of the snow that inspired me. I didn't feel any sort of emotion, I was stone cold as a rock. I was merely just existing. And then melodies naturally just unraveled by themselves unlike when I was high on emotion. It was really strange because thinking back, I would've expected to write my best melodies when I'm at an emotional extreme. But who knows, maybe I was writing something emotional on the unconscious level and I was just numb. Sometimes we have no idea why we say things or why we write certain melodies until maybe after writing them down and taking a real good look. Either way, I hope you guys enjoy this piece of music.
