The Hall of Fame driver says he met with NASCAR Executive Vice President and Chief Racing Development Officer John Probst in January and now has a better understanding of how and why all of the parts and pieces of the NEXTGEN car work together.
He also says he pitched the idea of being a test driver to help see if old ideas would make the car race better.
